CHAPTER 4

CONCLUSION

Our study focused on comparing the populations of both sexes in 2016, 2017, and
2018. From the analysis made based on the total population obtained, we found that
the data obtained for females was 37511 and males were 40223.4. This indicates
that the number of males is over 2712.4 than female. This is because scientific
factors, nutritional factors and social factors.

Further analysis relates to the statement of whether the population is affected by the
states. The states we studied were Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri
Sembilan, Sabah, Perak, Pahang, Sarawak, Terengganu, Penang, Perlis, Wilayah
Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan, and Wilayah
Persekutuan Putrajaya. The total population was 25559.5 in 2016, 25912.6 in 2017
while 26262.3 in 2018.

The state with the smallest population is Wilayah Putrajaya which is 269.1. This is
due to its very small area and it also serves as the administrative center of Malaysia.
This in turn will make Putrajaya an important pulse for the Malaysian government.
Since 2012, almost all Malaysian government ministries have moved to Putrajaya
except the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Defense and
the Ministry of Works which are still in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. The
population of Putrajaya consists of government employees. Civil servants are
encouraged to move to the city through various government subsidies and loan
programs.

In addition, the states with the largest population are Sabah which is 11559.7 and
Johor which is 11310.6. Sabah has a large population due to the size of its state and
has a total of 32 ethnic groups that influence its population increasing every year.
Johor is the second most populous state in Malaysia as its cities and urban centers
have grown exponentially. It also follows the increase in residential development in
the southern development region due to the migration of the Iban ethnic from
Sarawak in employment. Johor’s geographical position in southern Peninsular
Malaysia has also contributed to the state’s rapid development as a Malaysian
transport and industry, creating jobs and attracting migrants from other states and
abroad, especially from Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bangladesh,
India, Pakistan and China.

Overall, the survey analysis has achieved its objectives. However, more in -depth
studies with a wider scope in the future are strongly encouraged to find other factors
influencing the population by gender, state and year.
