2. IN THIS MODULE, I HAVE LEARNED THAT PLANTS AND ANIMALS ARE ALSO HAVE
CHEMICAL CONTROLS THAT MAY AFFECT THEIR GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT, AND
MOVEMENTS.
3. I CAN EXPLAIN THE CONCEPTS IN THE DIFFERENT MECHANISMS OF PLANTS AND
ANIMALS, FIRST, I KNOW THAT IN PLANTS, EVERY CELL IS ABLE TO DEFEND ITSELF

B. GRAVITY AFFECTS EVERYTHING ON EARTH. EVEN WHEN YOU TURN PLANTS UPSIDE
DOWN, GRAVITY DOESN’T LET UP. ROOTS WILL TURN AND TWIST TO GROW

THE PLANTS IN A HALF TURN REGULARLY MEANS THAT ALL PARTS OF THE PLANTS
RECEIVE EQUAL AMOUNT OF SUNLIGHT. IF THIS HAPPENS, THERE WILL BE NO NEED

1. THE IMMUNE SYSTEM OF THE BODY IS IMPORTANT IN LIVING ORGANISMS, BECAUSE
THE IMMUNE SYSTEM HAS A VITAL ROLE. IT PROTECTS YOUR BODY FROM HARMFUL
SUBSTANCES, GERMS AND CELL CHANGES THAT COULD MAKE YOU ILL. IT IS MADE
UP OF VARIOUS ORGANS, CELLS AND PROTEINS.
2. IN THIS MODULE, I HAVE LEARNED THAT PLANTS AND ANIMALS ARE HAVE AN
INNATE IMMUNE SYSTEM, WHICH HELPS PROTECT HOSTS FROM THE MAJORITY OF
MICROBES THEY ENCOUNTER DURING THEIR LIFETIME.
3. I CAN EXPLAIN THE COMPARISON AND CONTRAST OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEMS
BETWEEN PLANTS AND ANIMALS. FIRST, I KNOW THAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
PLANT AND ANIMAL IMMUNITY IS THAT WHILE ANIMALS EXPOSED TO INFECTION
CAN ADAPT AND ACQUIRE IMMUNITY, PLANTS CANNOT. IN ADDITION, THEIR ABILITY
TO RECOGNIZE AND REPEL SPECIFIC ATTACKERS IS HARD WIRED INTO THEIR GENES.
FINALLY, PLANTS AND ANIMALS INNATE IMMUNE SYSTEMS RECOGNIZE AN
OVERLAPPING SET OF CONSERVED MICROBE-ASSOCIATED MOLECULAR PATTERNS.

1. INFLAMMATION IS A VITAL PART OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM’S RESPONSE TO INJURY
AND INFECTION. IT IS THE BODY’S WAY OF SIGNALING THE IMMUNE SYSTEM TO
HEAL AND REPAIR DAMAGED TISSUE, AS WELL AS DEFEND ITSELF AGAINST FOREIGN
INVADERS, SUCH AS VIRUSES AND BACTERIA.
2. WHEN IT'S GOOD, IT FIGHTS OFF FOREIGN INVADERS, HEALS INJURIES AND MOPS UP
DEBRIS. BUT WHEN IT'S BAD, INFLAMMATION IGNITES A LONG LIST OF DISORDERS:
