About two weeks ago, I was invited to attend one of my best friend’s thematic

birthday parties. I already knew he was a huge fan of scary old films, such as
Halloween or A Nigthmare on Elm Street, but it still came as a surprise to me when
I was told that his birthday party will be centered around the plot of the movie
Scream. One of the scariest and most enjoyable horror films ever made, featuring,
what is in my opinion, the most iconic horror villain of all time, Ghostface.
Upon arriving at my friend’s house, I quickly realized that all the furniture and
inside decorations have been changed, as to make it resemble the classic party
house in the original Scream. As I entered, someone immediately explained the
rules to me. In the next few hours, a person would dress up as Ghostface and run
free around the house, hitting others with a knife, eliminating them from the game.
At the end, the survivors would be rewarded with authentic prop weapons and
outfits that were used in the films.
Scattered around the house were a lot of traps and obstacles, heavy objects
that could be pushed around in order to block doors and pathways. All the windows
were secured, giving everyone the option to make a swift escape by jumping
through them, without the risk of getting hurt.
When the game started, we were all given 40 seconds to hide and lock doors
to our advantage. I quickly found a decent hiding spot in the upstairs bedroom,
where I stayed for a big part of the game. Eventually, Ghostface broke through the
locked door and I was forced to defend myself by slamming him with the closet
door and running over him. I then quickly proceeded to hide in the bathroom,
behind the shower courtains.
To my surprise, he wasn’t able to find me for the rest of the game, and I
became one of the only two survivors. I was rewarded with a full Ghostface
costume which I still sometimes wear to school.
