CONVERSATION 1: PRESENT CONTINOUS
CORTEZ: Hi Doria! What are you doing?
DORIA: Hey Cortez! I’m writing a letter to my grandfather.
CORTEZ: Oh, that’s nice. Where does your grandfather live?
DORIA: He lives in Texas. He’s retired now, so he spends most of his time
playing golf.
CORTEZ: Do you have a big family?
DORIA: Yes, I do. I have a lot of cousins.
CORTEZ: Where do they live?
DORIA: All over the United States. American people usually move a lot. So I
have cousins in New York, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Portland, Chicago, Las
Vegas…
CORTEZ: That’s interesting. Do you like Las Vegas?
DORIA: No, I don’t. It’s so ridiculous and artificial..
CORTEZ: Hm. And what do you think about New York
DORIA: New York is okay. It’s a big city, with people from all over the world.
CORTEZ: And do you enjoy living in Spain, Sylvia?
DORIA: Yes, I do. I like Madrid a lot.
CORTEZ: Do you like Spanish food?
DORIA: Yes, I do! I love the octopus from Galicia.
CORTEZ: Ah yes. I’m happy to hear that. Do you want to go have some dinner
now? I know a place around the corner that makes some excellent Galician
octopus!
DORIA: Okay, but first I want to finish my letter.

LANDS: What’s your favorite dish?
HERRERA: My family is Italian, so I love making pasta. Lasagna, spaghetti, all
kinds of pasta.
LANDS: Oh, that’s nice. Can you also make pizza?
HERRERA: I can, but it’s a lot of work. I prefer to buy pizza.
LANDS: I love Italian food.
HERRERA: You should come over for dinner sometime

DORIA: And is there an aquarium in this city?
SAAVEDRA: Yes, there is! It’s near the museum. It’s a very nice Aquarium.
DORIA: Great. I have one more question. Are there any amusement
