Public Speaking Fear

And as you continue relaxing deeper, deeper and more deeply relaxed, I
would like you to imagine yourself speaking publicly. That's right. Just
imagine yourself up in front of a group of people and speaking publicly. And
you imagine that as you continue to speak, your fear is continuing to leave.
That's right. You are allowing to leave. Your fear has been considerably
lowered, and what little is left is going away completely. It is almost gone.
And now your fear is completely gone and you can feel a great sense of
relief. And I want you to understand that from now on, when you give a
speech or speak publicly in any capacity, you'll be very, very relaxed before
you give a speech.

You'll take three deep breaths, slowly in through your nose, holding each
one, and you'll open your mouth slightly and exhale each one very slowly,
taking three deep breaths into your nose and out through your mouth. And
this will be a signal to your subconscious mind, a signal that you are very,
very relaxed. And as you take these three deep breaths in and out slowly,
you will recall a time in your life when you are very much in control room,
feeling very powerful, feeling very centered and focused. And all of your
fear will leave and you'll be flooded with a sense of confidence and power
and focus and serenity. And you'll deliver your speech or address the group
you are speaking to easily and effortlessly. Everything you have prepared
for that talk will come to you in that moment. When you need it, your
memory will be perfect. And if you are speaking spontaneously, ideas will
come to you easily and effortlessly. And very soon indeed, you'll find that
you are an expert at public speaking, that you are an accomplished expert
at public speaking. And that feels wonderful because you are able to relax
ahead of time

And you are able to completely concentrate on what you have to say as

1
soon as you begin speaking and you'll be relaxed, you will be calm and at
ease and you'll become completely involved in what you have to say. When
your speech has concluded, you'll be full of warm feelings of
accomplishment and those feelings come from that knowledge that you
have done well. And as time goes on, this realization of how well you are
actually doing while speaking publicly will cause you to let go of your
former anxiety. That anxiety will become less and less until it is gone
completely leaving you relaxed while delivering speeches, leaving you
relaxed while speaking publicly in any capacity. So relaxed and focused and
comfortable and confident while delivering speeches or anytime you are
speaking publicly. And that feels wonderful. And as I am silent, just imagine
yourself speaking publicly and notice how calm you are. You are smiling and
relaxed and people are interested in what you have to say. Notice this and
the wonderful feelings you have during the experience as I am silent. Good.
Now I'd like you to imagine yourself six months from now, six months in the
future speaking publicly.

Notice that your skills have improved. Perhaps you have taken a few classes
concerning public speaking, but whether you have or not, your skills have
improved. You are a smooth public speaker, very interesting to listen to.
You are calm and relaxed while addressing your audience and you are
enjoying yourself. Imagine this now, you six months in the future talking
publicly and enjoying it. Imagine it now as I am silent. Good. Now I'd like
you to imagine yourself one year from now. Imagine yourself speaking
publicly. Fear is gone. You enunciate clearly. You project your voice, you
make eye contact with the audience members. You use hand gestures
properly. Your presentation is dynamic. You vary your volume and your
tone to add texture to the way you speak, to make it more interesting for
the audience. And they are very receptive. So whether you are giving a
toast among friends, we're delivering a speech to a large audience.
Whether you're speaking to people or complete strangers, see yourself a
year from now relaxed as you speak and realize it has been a wonderful

2
year with many public speaking opportunities. You have taken advantage of
the opportunity to speak publicly on numerous occasions.

You realize that this allows you to develop your public speaking skills and
you have become a true master of public speaking. Feel how good it feels.
Notice your body is relaxed, your breathing is regular, your heartbeat is
regular. You're calm. Notice your hands, they're calm. Notice your voice. It
is your voice does what you wanted to do. You are in control. You are an
expert at public speaking. As I am silent. Just imagine all of this. Imagine
yourself one year from now speaking publicly and being a dynamic,
wonderful, exciting, interesting speaker. And as you continue relaxing
deeper and deeper, you realize that it's okay to enjoy this moment. A, you
imagined yourself being in public and you imagined yourself speaking
clearly. Now I'd like you to imagine yourself relaxing. And as you continue
relaxing deeper, deeper, and more deeply relaxed, I would like you to
imagine yourself walking along the beach and imagine that you come to an
area where unpleasant labels are written about you in the sand. These are
labels that have been given to you in the past and have held you back and
kept you from reaching your true potential. The truth is that you are
confident, you are capable

And you are a good person. But right now, see those labels in the sand and
using your foot, brush those words away. Just clean the area with sweeping
motions. Using your foot. That's right. Just erase the negative words with
each stroke of your foot. And now watch as the water comes to the shore
and up to your feet and washes away the sand around you, those negative
words now mean nothing to you. They no longer exist and they never have
because you were the only one who saw them. So you now turn around
and walk a short distance down the beach. You feel a little more confident
and you stand a little taller. Soon you come to a large rock. In the middle of
the sand on this rock is a little pick. And you pick it up and start writing all
the words that describe you. You write talented, you write confident. That's
right. Scraping and picking those words into the rock permanently. You
3
right accomplished. You write good person, you write positive, you write
attractive, you write capable. And now as I am silent, you're right, many
other words, using the pick words which describe you, describe how great
and wonderful you are.

Look at all the words you have written on this rock. You have inscribed
them permanently on the rock. Now think about what a great person you
are. You are confident in yourself and the things you do, you are confident
in the way you look, the way you dress and the way you act. See yourself
confident now with coworkers. See yourself confident now with friends.
See yourself confident now with family members. See yourself confident
now with a love interest. Everything comes easily to you. You are able to
easily talk to people. Conversation flows very fluidly from your mouth. You
are an excellent conversationalist. People respect what you have to say.
You are strong and respected, and everyone around you sees you as
capable and confident. Now imagine seeing yourself in a mirror. You see
that you are full of positive energy. Everyone notices how radiant you are.
Everyone around you seize this positive energy. Notice how good you look.
You are very attractive. You look exactly like you are supposed to look. You
look exactly like you want to look. Others respect you and you respect
yourself. See yourself standing proud and strong. You are certain of your
abilities and your skills.

You understand that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. So
in the future you are free to do anything you want to do. No longer do you
hold yourself back with negative words. Those words have been washed
away forever. All you see are positive words describing you. And you are
filled with radiant energy. You have practical goals, creative ideas, and you
fill your mind with positive thoughts. You are ready to grasp the future and
move forward with confidence.
