11(a) In MUKO super market the price of coffee, tea and sugar are shs.1,200,
shs.1,500 and shs.2,400 respectively.
Ivy bought 3kg of tea, 5kg of sugar and ½ kg of coffee, while Saava bought
2kg of coffee, 4kg of sugar and 1kg of tea.
Form a (i) 3 x 1 price matrix.
(ii) 2 x 3 commodity matrix.
(b) Use matrix multiplication to find what each person spent and hence find the
total sales from the two people.
(c) David bought 3 pens and 2 books from Shoprite at shs. 3,150 and Edwin
bought 3 books and 2 pens at shs. 2,850.
(i) Find the cost of a pen and a
book.
(ii) If Joseph bought an equal number of pens and books at a total cost of
shs 6,000/= from the same supermarket, find the number of pens she
bought.
12. In S.4 class, student chose different subjects for their subjects’ combination to be
done in S.5. 56 chose to take Physics (P), 49 chose Biology (B) and 36 chose
Chemistry(C). All the students chose to take at least one of the three subjects
except 8 who were absent. 12 students chose Physics and Biology but not chemistry,
30 students chose Physics only, 10 students chose Biology only and 40 students
chose more than one subject. Using a Venn diagram, find how many students;
