12. (a). The vertices of triangle RPQ are (0,3),(1,5),and (3,3) respectively.Find the
image R1 P1 Q1 of triangle R P Q under a reflection in the line x + y = 0.

(b). The image R P Q is then mapped on to R P Q under a rotation about

the origin through 2700.Find the coordinates of the vertices of triangle R11

(c) Find a single transformation matrix that will map triangle R11 P11 Q11 back
to RPQ (5 marks)

(d) Describe the transformation in (c) above fully. (2 marks)


13. Copy and complete the table below for the function y = 2 + 3x – 2x2 for values
of x from – 4 to +5. (3 marks)

(b) Draw the graph of y = 2 + 3x – 2x2 using a scale of 2cm: 1 unit on the x – axis

14 . In Ngero High School 32 students were asked about their favourite games
and the responses were as follows:17 play football (F), 20 play hockey (H), 18
play volleyball (V), 11 play F and H, 2 play V and H but not F. 5 play F and V
but not H.
Determine :

(a) the number of students who play all the 3 games. (6 marks)

(b) the number of students who play only one game. (2 marks)

(c) what percentage of the students play at least 2 games. (4 marks)

15. Using a ruler and a pair of compasses only (a) Construct a triangle ABC in
which AB = 6cm,BC = 8cm and angle ABC = 600.

(b) Inscribe a circle in the triangle ABC and measure its radius.

(c) Construct a perpendicular from vertex A to meet BC at R. Measure AR.

(d) Calculate the area outside the circle but inside the triangle correct to 3
significant figures. (3 marks)

16. Opolot wants to buy 3 pencils, 2 rulers and 4 pens. Lumumba wants to buy 1
ruler 8 pens and 1 pencil. In Kampala, pencils rulers and pens each cost
sh.600, sh.500 and sh.200 respectively. In Jinja pencils, rulers and pens each
cost sh.800, sh.100 and sh.300 respectively.

(i) Write down a 2 X3 matrix (M) to represent the items to be bought. (2 marks)
(ii) Write down a 3X2 matrix (N) for the cost of the items in the two towns.
( 2 marks)

(iv) Use appropriate matrix multiplication to find how much Opolot and
Lumumba will spend. (8
marks)
