The School Class as a Social System

A Reflection Paper

“The school is the best option to educate the younger generation on equality, liberty, and unity.”

School is the primary source of learning and one of the most convenient environments for
everyone to learn and grow as human beings. Unbeknownst to many is its relationship with the
social system, which was explained by the discussion as a complex set of human relationships
with various groups. It is defined by Merriam-Webster as (1) a systematic set of
interrelationships occurring between persons, groups, and institutions and constituting a unified
whole, and (2) the formal arrangement of rank and position that may evolve among members of
a relatively small stable group (such as a family or club). However, one may probably ask why
they call it complex, but the explanation is simple: It was complex since the behavior of one
affects the behavior of others and it is also an "open system," which means everyone is involved.
All the people participating in this ideology are contributors to its growth and progress.

Another thing to be acknowledged is that the social system has societal and community
goals—described as the goals that connect an individual or group to their immediate world—to
make an impact, to foster values, to change lives, to provide or preserve social amenities or
infrastructure, to solve social problems, and/or to protect the natural environment. All of these
are needed to make a big change since it is the only way—as most people believe—that can alter
one's perception and stand in life. The majority of people adhere to the idea that the goals of
society are the main thing that we may leverage to have a progressive life and a thriving
community. In line with that are the specified goals of the community which generally include
(1) forming groups, (2) bringing about social justice, (3) maintaining or restructuring power (4)
developing alternative institutions, and (5) maintaining or revitalizing neighborhoods. Those
goals that were mentioned are a huge help to create a change in people's lives; it provides a
specific goal that serves as an assurance to the people that it will become fulfilled. And yes,
oftentimes, it is quite hard to believe that a certain goal will be fulfilled if there is no exact list of
things to be used as a basis. Hence, planning with direct objectives will give it a sense of
advanced attainment.
Likewise, the social system has two varied goals: School goals and Individual goals. The
first one is the school goals, which acknowledge that the most essential aspect of society is
education. It is regarded as one of the socialization process agents. It aids in the management of
human conduct and the development of one's personality. School also prepares students to follow
individual rules. And among these school goals are: (1) Attainment and results, (2) Reducing the
attainment gap (3) Improving attendance (4) New pedagogical techniques/learning strategies.
However, in my perspective, these rules are only effective if the way of those in authority is
implemented efficiently. Because we cannot change the notion that no matter how good the goals
are, if the implementation is not effective, it will fall short or in vain. Secondly, are the
individual goals, which are short-term or long-term objectives that can be applied to your job,
family life, or lifestyle. They are intended to inspire a person to achieve their goals in life. It
makes an influence, creating values, influencing lives, providing, or preserving social amenities
or infrastructure, solving social problems, and/or protecting the natural environment. It gives a
sense of encouragement to each one of us, a driving force to continue and move forward.
Because without goals, we are like a boat that remains afloat in the ocean, heading for
nothingness. For instance, if you study hard, that simply means that your goal is to pass or get a
high grade. But in the organizational aspect, these are the day-to-day operational duties required
to manage a firm and that contribute to manageability and company growth.

Hence, as tackled by the discussion, the school is viewed as a social system, with distinct
institutional functions, duties, and expectations. As a social system, the school is the best option
to educate the younger generation on equality, liberty, and unity. As an institution, it serves the
function of socialization and a systematic way of living. Its system is significantly changing and
ubiquitous in various communities which is why it is also important to align it with authoritarian
objectives to foster a safe and sound learning environment. We as learners should also obey the
implementation of rules whether it resonates with our inclinations or not. Since it is the first step
to achieving a systematic and organized kind of social and school system in a community.
