First and foremost, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our lecturer,

this role play script. She always have the time to answer all of our questions and
explained it
until we are fully understand.

Plus, we would like to thank our parents for their supports and prayers for making
sure all of
us can complete this script. Not forgetting, our classmates also shared information
to help us
doing this role play script.

Last but not least, we are really grateful that we have managed to complete and
submit this
role play script on time. This role play project script cannot be completed without
the co-
operation and effort from our group members Azhar, Mardiana, Sitti Norsimah and
Jetricia.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The first objective of this role play project is, we can improve our pronunciation
in pinyin.
Since, Mandarin is not our first language; we have a hard time trying to pronounce
pinyin
words correctly according to the tones. By doing this project, we are able to
practice it more
often, to prepare ourselves before the actual day of the role play, and for any
single day if we
are using Mandarin to communicate with others.

Secondly, the objective is to help us to construct sentences with correct grammar


according
to Mandarin language rules. This is because, the sentence structure for English and
Bahasa
Melayu are not the same as Mandarin. For example, when talking about dates, for
English or
Bahasa Melayu, we will start with day, month and year. However, in Mandarin, we
will say or
write the date starting from year, month and followed by day.

Lastly, this role play project will help all of us to prepare ourselves to be
confident to talk in
public using Mandarin language. By being fluent in Mandarin, it is an advantage to
be called
to an interview for any company. Therefore, we will use this advantage to shine
ourselves
more than the other candidates because we could be very helpful if there is a
Chinese
customer that cannot speak other languages such as Bahasa Melayu or English, we can
easily assist them by communicating the same language.

SCENE 1 (BY : JETRICIA)

The short story for scene 1 is Sofea and Alia from their dorm on the way to the
library, and
then they come across Farid and Rafidah. Alia began their conversation by asking
what time
is now. Next, Rafidah answered the question. Sofea asked Rafidah and Farid where
they want
to go. Rafidah and Farid are going to class no 401 because they have a Mandarin
class there.
The teacher who teaches for the subject is teacher Chian Ho. Next, Alia also asks
them what
time their Mandarin class ends, and Farid says their class will end at 10.30am.
Meanwhile,
Sofea ended their conversation because they wanted to go to the library to study
together.

SCRIPT CONTENT
SCENE 1 (On The Way to Classroom)

Nǐ hǎo Rafidah, xiànzài jǐ diǎn?


ALIA (1)
(Hello Rafidah, what time now?)

Xiànzài zǎoshang 8 diǎn 10 fēn.


RAFIDAH (1)
(It's 8:10 in the morning.)

Nǐmen yào qù nalǐ?


SOFEA (1)
(Where are you going ?)

Wǒmen yào qù 401 hào jiàoshì shàngkè.


RAFIDAH (2)
(We are going to class 401.)

401 hǎo jiàoshī zài jǐ lóu.


SOFEA (2)
(Which floor for 401 classrooms.)

401 hǎo jiàoshī zài bā lóu.

FARID (1) (401 classrooms is on the 8th floor.)


Nǐmen yào qù shàng shénme kè?

ALIA (2)
(What class are you going?)

Wǒmen yào qù shàng huáyǔ kè.

RAFIDAH (3)
(I'm going to Mandarin class.)

SOFEA (3) Nǐmen de huàyǔ lǎoshī shì shéi?

(Who is your Mandarin teacher?)

Wǒmen de huàyǔ lǎoshī shì Chian Ho lǎoshī.


FARID (2)
(My Mandarin teacher is Chian Ho.)

Nǐmen jǐ diǎn xiàkè?


ALIA (3)
(What time do you end get out of class?)

Wǒmen 10 diǎn bàn xiàkè.


FARID (3)
(We end get out of class at 10:30.)
Hǎo de. Duìbùqǐ, wǒmen yào

SOFEA (4)
(Okay. Sorry, We have to go to the library.)

SCENE 2 (BY : Mardiana)
The short story for scene 2 is about a group of students that just enter the
college and they
introduce each other. Each of them which is Sofea, Rafidah, Alia and Farid
introduce their
name and where they from. The dialogue start with Farid and sofea ask Alia's name.
Alia
answer their question and ask them back. Farid, sofea and Rafidah answer Alia's
question.
Rafidah really happy to meet them and at the same time, Alia ask whether they
taking the
same course. Sofea say yes to Alia's question. At last, Rafidah ask all the member
to go to
cafe together but only Alia join her it is because Sofea and Farid need to go
somewhere else.

SCENE 2 (New College New Friends)

Ní hǎo nǐ jiào shénme míngzì?


SOFEA (6) & FARID (5)
(Hi, what is your name?)

Wǒ jiào Alia, nǐ men ne?


ALIA (5)
(My name is Alia, How about you guys?)

Wǒ jiào Sofea wǒ láizì shābā.


SOFEA (7)
(My name is Sofea, I am from Sabah.)

Wǒ jiào Rafidah, wǒ láizì Shālāyuè.


RAFIDAH (5)
(My name is Rafidah, I am from Sarawak.)

(My name is Farid I am from Kuala Lumpur.)

SCENE 3 (BY : Sitti Norsimah)

The short story for scene 3 is the conversation between Rafidah, Alia, sofea and
farid about
their coming university examination. Rafidah and Aisyah began the conversation by
asking
farid to ask him if he busy . Next sofea join the conversation by asking them what
day
university hold the examination and Rafidah responded that she knows the date plus
asking
did they already done their revision. Farid and Aisyah answered her no they have
not
.therefore , Rafidah suggest go to library by tomorrow afternoon at 2:20 evening to
do their
revision together. The conversation end when Sofea excuses herself going to
university
hostel as well as the others.

SCENE 3 (At University )

Farid, nǐ xianzai máng ma?


RAFIDAH (8) & ALIA (9)

(Farid , are you busy right now?)

Wǒ xianzai bù máng. Wèi shénme?


FARID (9)
(Now I’m not busy, why?)

Nǐ zhidao dàxué shénme shíhòu kǎoshì ma?


SOFEA (10)
(Do you know when university hold exams?)

SOFEA (11) Haode. Wǒ xiān huí dàxué de sùshè. Zàijiàn.

(Alright, I go to university hostel. Goodbye.)

SCENE 4 (BY : Azhar)
The short story for scene 4 is a conversation between Rafidah, Alia, sofea and
farid about
their upcoming birthday. Farid started the conversation by asking Sofea Alia and
Rafidah to
say hello to them. Sofea next joins the conversation by telling them that her
birthday is soon
and Rafidah replies that it was her birthday last month. Farid invited them to come
to his
house. Therefore, Sofea wants to ask permission first from her parents. Then Fared
will wait
for the arrival of the three of them.

SCENE 4 (In the Classroom)

Hāi Alia, Sofea hé Rafidah, nǐ hǎo ma?

(Hai Alia , Sofea , Rafidah . How are you?)

Hāi Farid, wǒmen yǒu yīgè hǎo xiāoxī yào

RAFIDAH (13) (Hi Farid, we are good news thanks you, how

you?)
