Rehan Zeb Khan wanted the tribal people to get their basic rights. He raised his voice in
every forum for the rights of the Tribal people and against the FCR (FCR is the Frontier
Crimes Regulations, which were a special set of laws of British India, and later Pakistan
which were applicable to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. They were enacted
by the government in the nineteenth century and continued to remain in effect in
Pakistan until 2018). Rehan also made a student’s union for the service of FATA
Students named FATA Students Forum Pakistan (now After FATA Merger it's changed
to Tribal Youth Forum Pakistan). Rehan is the founder and chairman of this forum. He
led all Tribal students and youths at many protests and gatherings regarding their basic
legal and constitutional rights and participated in several key seminars within the
country.

(Rehan Zeb leading from the front during fight against FCR)
Now FCR has been completely eliminated from the tribal areas of Pakistan and
FATA/FCR is no more. Their people are part of Khyber Pakhtun khwa. The political
alliance, the elected representatives of FATA, the lawyers, the youth and different
people raised their voices against FCR. But Rehan Zeb khan not only inspired few but
influenced millions of Pakistanis with his fiercely diverse fight against FCR. Along with
education, Rehan fought against FCR and raised his voice for the rights of tribal at every
platform.

Rehan did not only keep the issue of FCR on social and electronic media, but he also ran

Rehan Zeb Khan Successful campaign against COVID19 (Corona Virus

Pandemic):

Rehan Zeb Khan,

the unseen hero of
fight against the
Covid-19 in
Pakistan.
https://bajaurtimes.com/en/2
020/05/4481/

They are the only few who are leading from the front in fight against the Covid-19 in the region
since the issue of corona virus was emerged in the country in this second week of March 2020.

The 26 year old Rehan Zeb Khan, the chairman of Tribal Youth Forum Pakistan and founder
president of Youth of Bajaur was among these committed persons who are playing great and
tremendous role to keep the people safe and secure from the corona virus epidemic since the first
day of emerging situation in Pakistan.

7
Mr. Zeb who is also the Global Volunteer at United Nations have used his leadership’s skill in fight
against the Covid-19 in rural areas specially in tribal district Bajaur like the region where most of
people believe the disease joke and fun.

[Rehan Zeb had mobilized the youth for the prevention of corona virus in Pakistan at that time when there
was no single corona positive cases detected in Pakistan]

The Youth leader, who had been living in Islamabad for last seven years had first organized scores
of talented, active and committed youths to take part in the Covid-19 pandemic in the country
through social media. He also launched awareness sessions against the Covid-19 on social media
before arranging such gathering in several areas of the country along with his companions. He
was belong to a poor family, but courage, spirit of serving humanity and leadership’s skills have
helped him to contribute his services in fight against the corona virus in his native district. Besides
arranging hundreds of awareness sessions about the preventive measures against the Covid-19,
Rehan also distributed thousands of face masks, gloves and others essential items donated by non-
government organizations and well-off people among the residents.

The youth leader who said to be the first private person launched the initiative of distribution of
food items among the needy families in the wake of corona virus lockdown in Bajaur said that he
had awarded ‘ foods packages’ to about eight thousands poor and needy families of the
district since March 19 to June 17. Rehan launched the scheme after observing that scores of
needy people were in great crisis due to lack of foods and resources and any of government, non-
government organizations and people did not take efforts to help these vulnerable people. He
mobilized scores of youth in different areas of the country and collected funds from well-off people
and then started providing foods packages to the needy families.
8
His initiative had not only helped to provide foods to about eight thousands needy and poor
families of the district, but also motivated hundreds of well-off people, government and non-
government organizations to provide foods to the needy and deprived people of the district.

Meanwhile, the Government of Khyber PakhtunKhwa and several others governmental

organizations have acknowledged the efforts and struggle of Rehan Zeb Khan in fight against the
Covid-19 in the district. An official of the administration Bajaur told media correspondent that
they have decided to give ‘Hero of Bajaur award to Mr. Zeb for his wonderful efforts and struggles
in fight against Covid-19. The youth leader’s performance was remained great and wonderful
throughout the ongoing Covid-19 in the district.

9
Chairman Tribal Youth Forum Pakistan:
Rehan Zeb Khan is the founder and current Chairman of the Tribal Youth Forum Pakistan-
TYFp, the biggest network of tribal youth across Pakistan, which has been working for 9 years on
Social awareness, Academic counselling, Education, resolving admission and scholarships related
issues of the tribal students, FATA Reforms Implementation and rehabilitation etc. before 8
October 2018 it was FATA Students Forum Pak but after merging of FATA with khyber
pakhtunKhwa the name of this forum changed to Tribal Youth Forum Pakistan during cabinet
meeting Under Rehan Zeb in November, 2018. The aim of TYFp is to build the capacity of young
people within the Tribal Areas to understand the nature of conflict, identifying their role and
taking positive actions for bridging the gaps, focusing on attitude and behavior change for peace
and conflict management.

In this forum, Rehan worked a lot to provide quality of education for the tribal people, empower
the youth, the abolishing of FCR, Implementation and rehabilitation of the FATA Reforms. Rehan
not only raised the issues of tribal people but he also raised the issue of Kashmir and Afghanistan
as well.

(The Tribal Youth Forum is currently at the forefront of addressing the basic issues of
The tribal people under Rehan's leadership.)

“Education for All”

Another Mission of Rehan Zeb Khan.
Rehan Zeb Khan's vision is a country where all children have access to high quality
education that unlocks their full potential and helps them realize their aspirations.
Pakistan faces a serious education emergency. 21% of school-aged children in Pakistan do
not receive an education, a right guaranteed in the country’s constitution, while 57% of class 5
children cannot read sentences or do two‐digit division. Over half of all women in Pakistan are
illiterate; in rural areas this increases to two-thirds of women.

The Education system of the newly merged Tribal Districts Ex-FATA is alarming. According to
10
the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER-Pakistan 2016) published in August 2017, a survey
was conducted in nine rural territories of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Ex-Fata) which
covered 5,390 households in 270 villages. It collected detailed information on 17,674 children
(59 per cent boys, 41 per cent girls) between the ages of 3-16 years. Of these, around 14,847
children aged 5-16 years were tested for language and arithmetic competencies.

During the war on terror, this area become a buffer zone for all kind of disturbance like militancy.

Due to this, people have gone away from education, either the school has been destroyed by
militants or due to insufficient facility of education. As the population of Ex-FATA is 6 million
according to census 2017 and an area of 27000 square kilometers, there is only one university
which has recently been built. As the war on terror completely destroyed education in Ex-FATA.

The literacy rate is 22%, which is well below the nationwide rate of 56%, in these Male adult
literacy rate in EX-Fata is 45% whereas the same for women is a mere 7.8%. So it is the alarming
situation for the state. The militants started different propaganda that the education of female is
haram, and use a religion as a tool that our religion does not allow us to give education to female.
Due to which the illiterate people of EX- fata and also the militants stopped the girls from the
schools or destroyed their schools. Same is the situation with male due to which the children go
towards the wrong hand of militants and they did their brain wash.

Seeing all these situations, Rehan Zeb Khan raised his voice for Education in Tribal Areas. He
started different awareness campaigns in every tribal district. He motivated young people in
Pakhtun Khwa to promote education in the least developed tribal districts. For this purpose, he
used social and electronic media for the brain wash of the tribal people and was aware of the
importance of education. He met different political leaders and educational experts to discuss
11
the method of solution to education in tribal districts. He arranged the first ever biggest
conference in Tribal district Bajaur named ‘’ Parho Qbail, Barho Qbail Conference’’ in Govt post
graduate college Khar Bajaur. The purpose of this conference was to inform people regarding
education. He also arranged many awareness conferences at community bases. This effort of
Rehan Zeb khan is still continuing and, due to Rehan's stunning efforts, education awareness is
now increasing day by day in tribal districts.

( Rehan struggles for education in Tribal areas will remain forever)

Youth of Bajaur- YOB

In keeping with Bajaur's local issues (health, education, infrastructure and corruption),
Rehan created the 'Youth of Bajaur'. YOB is the biggest platform of Bajaur youth which
works for developed, prosperous and peaceful Bajaur. YOB's mission is to contribute to
the improvement of the life of Bajaur Youth with a view to enhancing the effectiveness
of youth and other actors in peace building, education, health and career counseling
development initiatives. From the youth of Bajaur platform, Rehan contributed a lot to
his local society. He worked on education issues, arranged many blood donation
campaigns and tourism promotion activities. The recent #ExploreBajaurbeauty
campaign was highly appreciated by the KP Government.

(The Youth of Bajaur has become very popular among the people of Bajaur in a short time.)

Rural Areas Water Association Pakistan (Founded by Rehan Zeb)

In addition to so many other inadequacies in our rural areas, water availability remains the
major concern. The communities still have to manage their survival either on poor quality water
or they have to travel miles to fetch a little quantity of water. Other than drinking water, sufficient
availability for agriculture and livestock is also a matter of concern. In Pakistan, 42.5 million
people have no access to clean and safe drinking water this count in more in Rural Areas of
Pakistan and its shortage is proliferating quickly.

Seeing all these unending and intricately interwoven problems Rehan Zeb Khan has been founded
RAWAP for addressal and resolution of water management challenge in rural areas.

A Public-supported, non-Profit organization set up under Section 42 of the Companies Act,

2017. Rural Areas Water Association Pakistan was established in 2017. It has earned a resonating
reputation within no time for its qualified leadership and performance oriented approach.
The prime aim of RAWAP is social welfare through provision of the system of clean water
to the rural areas. It is an organization which is committed to reduce the water woes of the rural
areas and to make the lives easier for the inhabitants.

The Rural Areas Water Association recognizes the importance of water for the poor. Accessible
domestic water supplies, even if shared by a large number of households, can make more and
better-quality water available for family needs, reduce female drudgery and slash the incidence of
debilitating water-borne diseases. In fact, studies have found that water supplies are often at the
top of the list of what the rural poor ask for themselves. Many villages in the rural areas of Pakistan
still lack even a communal well with a hand pump. There are some cases that well is installed but
the hand pump has been broken for years, and people have returned to their original and often
remote water sources. Inadequate access to domestic water is particularly difficult for women and
girls.

(Last two year efforts of Rehan Zeb on Water sector is highly appreciated by government
and private sector organizations.)

Rehan Zeb Khan at Commonwealth 2022 Rwanda Africa:
On June 18, 2022, the Government of Pakistan, with the support of the British Council,
directed Rehan Zeb to the Commonwealth Conference to represent the youth of
Pakistan. The Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF 2022), which is held in parallel with
the biennial Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), took place in
Kigali, Rwanda between 19-21 June 2022 with the theme of ‘Taking Charge of our

young people of the Commonwealth to build cross-cultural connections and networks,

excellent representation of Rehan Zeb Khan was appreciated by the Government of
Pakistan, Prime Minister's Office and various youth organizations.

16
Rehan Zeb Khan’s brilliant campaign against corruption and historical
Dharna in district Bajaur, KPK.
Rehan Zeb Khan was considered an effective voice against corruption from day one, along
with his social and political work, he has always raised his voice against corruption at the
local and national level. According to him, he considered Imran Khan as his leader because
he is against corruption. At the beginning of the year 2022, when corruption reached its
peak in his native district Bajaur and there was an open demand for money from the youth
for various jobs in Bajaur, he spoke to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the
relevant authorities on different platforms, when Rehan Zeb did not get any adequate
response and no satisfactory measures were taken to prevent corruption, he announced a
dharna along with hundreds of youths in Bajaur on 9 June 2022 at front of Deputy
commissioner office Bajaur. This was the first sit-in in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
province against corruption. This dharna, which lasted for 8 days, was the first and last
dharna in the history of Bajaur too which continued for so many days. During the sit-in,
Rehan Zeb Khan fearlessly spoke against the people involved in corruption and their
facilitators. Huge pressure was put on Rehan Zeb and his collogues to end the protest but
he persisted, till here the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued a warrant to arrest
Rehan Zeb under 3 MPO, but Rehan stood on his ground without any fear. After 8 days,
Rehan Zeb Khan ended the sit-in with the guarantee of local Jirga (reconciliation council)
and political leaders, but the positive effects of his dharna are still present in Bajaur. After
his historic sit-in, anti-corruption and NAB teams conducted raids in Bajaur and major
corruption scandals were also revealed in the education, health and infrastructure
departments.
Even today, Rehan Zeb Khan is working with hundreds of youths for the establishment of a
corruption-free society. At the local level, Rehan Zeb Khan is considered a hero in the fight
against corruption.
