I seek to be a Programme Policy Officer for various reasons but majorly because:

I am good at communicating and influencing. I get my messages across in a way that is simple and
understandable to team members and any other audience. I communicate clearly, honestly and
concisely both orally and in writing in a persuasive and accurate way. I take the views of other people
into consideration and use my skills to persuade them of the value of my views and ideas.
I am team player. I have mastered the art of contributing, collaborating, offering support and help to
colleagues, sharing ideas, giving advice and input in order to get things move/done. I am good at
building relationships within own area and outside, and I am always enthused about sharing
knowledge, information and learning.
I am also good at making effective decisions. Before deciding, often, I evaluate options and see which
of the options offers the right solution. Besides, I take responsibility for my decisions and I am always
confident while explaining them and making sure they are implemented.
My understanding is that any policy development process should be undertaken before program
implementation. This helps personnel evaluate possible options and then select those that are best
suited for a program. It also is important to develop policies that allow enough flexibility for future
changes that may be needed.
