goals, financial status and products, respectively. Thus, the goal of business
communication varies depending on whether it is transferred inside or outside the
company. Additionally, communication goals can be transferred via email, reports,
oral communication or advertising. The proper channel of communication is important
for ensuring the effectiveness of communication.
When doing the coach the mentor should train the employees, and supervise the
employee using both written and oral communication to manage, instruct and assign
tasks and project to employees. Mentor should also keep their companies maintain a
communication with various departments, and train employees to advertise their
products and services in order to attract the interest of the customers.
3. Analytical communicators prefer to communicate with data rather than with emotions.
They are usually good at reasoning closely and making their point quickly and clearly.
This style of business communication is often very effective in a business environment
and these people often occupy management positions. They prefer to have concrete,
measurable evidence when making a point, often using numbers as evidence. This
allows them to approach problems from a different perspective and can make them
excellent decision makers. When communicating with an analytical communicator,
you should always include hard data, real numbers, and a specific language. Try not to
let emotions and feelings fight each other, and present information with facts. They
may prefer written communication so that they can convey the data presented.
Visual communicators are essentially the opposite of analytical communicators. They
prefer a more relaxed and inclusive approach to expressing their views and appreciate
when others do the same. Details are not important to them and they like to think
outside the box. Many visual communicators provide visual examples when
communicating, such as graphs, diagrams, or examples. This makes it easier for them
to illustrate the whole idea.
When working with a visual communicator, it's important to step back from the details
of a topic and get to the heart of an idea before connecting. They love cutting activities
and may not appreciate the step-by-step instructions. They tend to prefer internal
communication so that they can grasp concepts more quickly.
Functional communicators love details, processes, processes, and other thoughtful
plans. They want to make sure that no detail is left out of their communication by
expressing their thoughts in a linear fashion. They want to make sure they understand
every detail of a plan or project and thrive in situations where they are allowed to ask
questions freely. Functional communicators value feedback and use it to improve over
time. They like to see different points of view to get to know each other better and
understand their work better.
When working with a functional communicator, you need to make sure that person has
all the information available. Giving them a schedule or list of expectations in writing
before discussing a project gives them time to form questions. Answering these
questions is crucial to their success.
Personal communicators use emotions and connections to understand the world around
them. They like to gauge how their colleagues think, feel, and what motivates them.
They love to listen and are often good at resolving conflicts. They care about the
health of their relationship, so they will try to make sure that everyone involved in a
project or task feels heard. Due to the nature of their emotional communication style,
they often prefer face-to-face meetings to read nonverbal cues and ensure a real
connection. These people will tell you exactly how they feel and expect you to do the
same. It may seem unprofessional to some, but the emotional connection will help
them communicate effectively.
When working with a personal communicator, it is important to establish a connection
before diving into the details of a project. Use emotional language and consider asking
them what they think about certain opinions or decisions.
4. Effective communication is directly proportional to effective negotiation. The better
the communication, the better the negotiation. Discussion does not mean fighting and
shouting, it is simply the exchange of ideas, thoughts and views with each other. You
need excellent communication skills to have a healthy and productive discussion.
Communication is an art and you must master it to be successful in any negotiation.
The other person will never know your thoughts and ideas unless and until you share
them with them. We cannot see your gray matter. It all depends on how you speak.
Effective communication is important in salary negotiations as well. Express your
salary expectations clearly in front of the recruiter. If you want your salary to be more
than what he has quoted, mention it very clearly but politely. Try your level best to
convince the recruiter why you need salary hike and probably how will you justify it
once you join the organization. There is nothing to be afraid of; even the organization
needs talented people like you. Learn to be a bit tactful. Your style, your accent, your
pronunciations are also important. Do lay emphasis on words that you feel are
important. If you are not satisfied with the offer, it’s better to decline it but in a very
polite way. Remember we all belong to good families and must behave like educated
and cultured people.
Negotiation is not rocket science. You just need to be very clear about your
expectations and preferences; express the same thing clearly, convince the other party
and come up with something that is acceptable to both. Don't say anything that might
hurt others. Be very polite in your speech, involve everyone in the discussion and
decide in favor of all participants for a productive negotiation.
