“MY EXPERIENCED DURING TYPHOON
ODETTE”
Have you ever wondered while watching the news how it felt to be strike by a typhoon where
strong winds blow as the trees dance crazily with the rain drops like there’s no end and seeing
people house destroyed? well that is my experience during Typhoon Odette and until now it still
hunted me how the night of December 17, 2021 change my life forever.

I remember waking up Friday morning maybe 10 am in the morning the day of the landfall of
Typhoon Odette to Northern Palawan. I remember it so well how I feel calm that day without
knowing how that day will be one of the worst disasters ever happened in the History of
Palawan even knowing the fact that Palawan is the ‘Last Frontier’ of the Philippines it is really
devastating and terrifying. Now starting in my experienced it is between 5 to 6 pm where the
wind started to blow really massively it felt like we are at the center of a tornado, the wind goes
to different direction crying like a child. We were inside our house that time as we heard
windows falling and broken glass shattered. We felt our house is shaking due to the wind,
rooftops beheaded and the worst of all our house wall fallen due to it cannot longer with hold
the pressure of the air.

We ran so fast to go to a safe place and that is where we evacuated to Palawan Baptist Hospital.
I know to myself as I pray to God that we will be safe. Luckily the hospital architecture design is
a wind breaker where the pressure inside the building is normal and the wind will just pass by
since it had an open space. Many people evacuated in the hospital during that night, I myself
volunteered to help those people who are in need as well as the Hospital staff treat those who
are injured and wounded. Three hours passed the wind started to weakened and yes even if a
big disaster strike, I will make sure that I will still sleep peacefully since I deserved it. And that is
my experience during typhoon Odette, I know it is short and my story is kind of skip by skip but I
am and will be forever grateful that me, my family, and friends survived that disastrous night
and I will continue to strive in my life as I carry on this experience that is engrave in mind the
night that change my life for good.
