Importance of family in India

The family is an important institution that plays a central role in the lives of most Indians. As
a collectivistic society, Indians often emphasise loyalty and interdependence. in India people
live in joint family or nuclear family, most of the family lives in joint family. Indian joint families
are considered to be strong, stable, close, resilient and enduring with focus on family
integrity, family loyalty, and family unity at expense of individuality, freedom of choice,
privacy and persona l space. Most of the people in India lives with their parents. People
