Facilitated for training and placement of students of M.E (I.C.Engg.) in various

industries.

Developed and introduced new courses on cutting edge technologies for Post Graduate
programme

Carriedout testing and consultancy work for automotive industries.

Organised more than 40 training programmes for the benefit of students, faculty
members and practicing engineers funded by MHRD, AICTE, State Government etc.

As Head of Internal Combustion Engineering Division of the Department of Mechanical

Engineering, Anna University, developed I C Engines Laboratory with addition of latest
engines, equipments and analysers for the students to carry out research.

Delivered more than 150 invited / guest lectures in various educational institutions /
societies / industries.

I have been invited by Honda – R & D Japan and Gunma University, Japan for giving a
talk on the Automotive Scenario in India

Involved in taking policy decisions as a member of the Departmental Consultative

Committee of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Anna University, since 2007.

Rated as one of the good teachers and scored 4.4 to 4.7 on a 5 point scale rating by the
students.

RESEARCH CONTRIBUTIONS

Guided 15 Ph D research scholars in the area of alternative fuels for Diesel engines,
Petrol engines and Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Engines.

Presently guiding 10 Ph D research scholars in the area of Alternative Fuels, Fuel Cells
and Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Engines.

Guided 6 M S (By Research) scholars in the areas of alternative fuels for Diesel
Engines, Vibration and Nuclear Fusion Reactor.
Guided more than 75 post graduate students project work.

Paper titled "Enhancing the Wear Resistance of Case Carburised Steel (En 353) by
Cryogenic Treatment" published in Cryogenics Journal was listed in the TOP 25 Hottest
Articles, January -March 2006.

Paper titled "An Experimental Investigation on DI Diesel Engine with Hydrogen Fuel"
published in Renewable Energy Journal was listed in the TOP 25 Hottest Articles,
January - March 2008.

Paper titled "Performance, Emission and Combustion Studies of a DI Diesel Engine

Using Distilled Tyre Pyrolysis Oil-Diesel Blends" published in Fuel Processing
Technology Journal was listed in the TOP 25 Hottest Articles, January -March 2008.

Developed and tested pollution control Carburettors for Maruti Omni, Ambassador,
Premier Padmini and Nissan Jonga vehicles.

Published more than 110 papers in Refereed International Journals and presented
papers in International conferences held at India, Malaysia, Japan and Canada, based
on the research work.

Nominated as the only technologist from India, by Society of Automotive Engineers

India to participate and present a paper in Small Engine Technology Conference at
Japan in May 2005.

CONTRIBUTIONS IN PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Served as Chairman, Engineering Education Board, Treasurer and Secretary, of

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India an affiliate of SAE International USA, and
Southern Section of SAEINDIA. SAE International is a professional society engaged in
the dissemination knowledge in the area of Automotive Engineering to serve the
mobility engineers.

As Chairman Engineering Education Board I have involved in introducing an event

called as “BAJA” in India, a replica of “MINIBAJA” organised at USA for the last 25
years. In India since 2007 we have been conducting this event every year. This event
involves graduating engineers show casing their talents by forming a group and
designing an all terrain vehicle. As a Faculty Adviser of SAEINDIA College of
Engineering guided the students in the Design and Fabrication of BAJA vehicles and
Two awards have been won in 2 years.
One of the persons responsible for bringing SAE International into India during 1996,
since then I have been in the board of SAEINDIA.

As an Executive Committee Member and the Treasurer of Quality Circle Forum India
involved in propagating quality related concepts in teaching by organising training
programmes and conventions since 1994.

Nominated by Society of Automotive Engineers for participating in the Section Officers

Leadership Seminar at USA during May 15-19, 1999. The seminar focussed on training
the officers to run the society to offer various services to the mobility engineers for the
development of technology to cater to the needs of the Automotive Industry.

CONTRIBUTIONS IN ADMINISTRATION ACTIVITIES

As a Deputy Director (During 2005-2008) and later elevated as Director, Centre for
Entrance Examinations and Admissions of Anna University (Since 2008 November),
directly involved in the following activities:

1. Conduct of Professional Courses Entrance Examinations on behalf of the

Government of Tamilnadu for approximately 1.0 Lakh candidates in the
year 2006.

2. Conduct of Counselling for Tamilnadu Engineering Admissions on behalf of

the Government of Tamilnadu for 1.0 – 1.5 Lakh candidates since 2006 for
admission to B.E/B Tech. degree programmes.

3. Conduct of Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test on behalf of the

Government of Tamilnadu for 0.5 - 1.0 Lakh candidates since 2006, for
admission to M.E/M Tech. degree programmes.

4. Conduct of Counselling for Tamilnadu Common Admissions on behalf of

the Government of Tamilnadu for approximately 20000 candidates since
2006, for admission to M.E/M Tech. degree programmes.

5. Conduct of Counselling for admissions to MBA, MCA, M Sc and M Phil

degree programmes offered at Anna University since 2006.
