Part two: Reading comprehension
There are books with fairy tales in many countries. Often the same stories are known and
repeated in many different languages. Some of the things that happen in these stories are
remarkable, although not as remarkable as things that are truly happening in medicine and science
today.
Most fairy tales begin with “Once upon a time” and end with “They lived happily ever
after”, so we will begin in the same way.
Once upon a time there was a girl called Cinderella who did all the work in the kitchen
while her lazy sisters do nothing.

One night her sisters went to a ball at the place. Cinderella was left at home, very sad. After
a time her fairy godmother appeared and told Cinderella that she could go to the ball but to return

Last summer vacation, Dat and I went to Da Lat. It was a wonderful and enjoyable trip. First, we
went to Da Lat by motorbike and had breakfast at Hoang Dieu restaurant. Then, we went to
Langbiang mountain. We conquered the top of the hill by jeep. When I got there, I was really
impressed because of the majestic and wonderful scenery. For lunch, we ate grilled spring rolls at
Hung Van restaurant. Then we went to the Cau Dat tea hill and enjoyable a delicious cup of green
tea. When it got dark, we went to eat Ngu Son sturgeon hot pot. The dish has a particularly rich
flavor that makes it hard for me to forget the delicious taste. The next day, we had breakfast with
Chu Gia Pho. Then, we went to the sculpture tunnel (clay tunnel) which is one of the must visit
attractions. The work of sculpture is extremely sophisticated. Finally, we visited the Chicken
Church. This is a beautiful and valuable architecture. Coming to Da Lat, I met a lot of tourist and
they were very friendly and pointed out interesting place visit. The people here are extremely
friendly and generous to us. This was a very interesting trip during my and Dat’s vacation.

TWO LANGUAGES OR ONE?
A student is learning to speak British English. He wonders: Can I communicate with
Americans? Can they understand me? Learners of English often ask: What are the differences
between British and American English? How important are these differences?
Certainly, there are some differences between British and American English. There are a
few differences in grammar. For example, speakers of British English say “in hospital” and “Have
