Pastoral Christian Leadership in the Context of Mission

The First Part of the course develops the topic on Pastoral Christian Leadership built on
the premise that: Leadership is vital for healthy churches.
Leadership is vital for the church to influence the society in which we live.
Leadership is vital to encourage church growth.
Leadership is vital to enable Christians to grow in ministry.
For this, we define Christian leadership as the discerning and sharing of God’s vision for His
missionary church, and equipping and enabling the church to reach that vision.
This course in Christian Leadership for the Missions
explores humility in the use of authority and power entrusted to them, trustworthiness and integrity,
willingness to lead out of leadership gifting rather than from leadership position,
A desire to encourage growth and development in others.
A style of leadership that seeks to love and serve others and God, future vision is earthed in an
understanding God’s calling and an active prayer life.

The Second Part of the course aims at giving a brief commentary on the contents of the
document Ecclesia in Asia.
Then it will tackle the issues like,
the dialectics of Proclaiming Jesus Christ as the Saviour of Mankind and the salvific values of other
religions;
Dialogue being the way of being the Church in Asia, what exactly is aimed at by dialogue with the other
religions as envisaged by the document?
The relation between proclamation and witness in the context of the world becoming more open to the
civilization of seeing than to the civilization of hearing in the Philippine context.
