 Introduction

Hi. I’m Lina, a photography student who likes to capture all kinds of beautiful
moments in life. The tittle of this book is ‘Life in Sarawak’. I thought about the
theme of this book for several days, and finally decided to photograph the place
where I grew up, which is Sibu and record its beauty with a camera lens.

Sibu is a lovely small town which located in Sarawak, Malaysia. Although it is

not as prosperous and advanced as a big city like Kuala Lumpur, it is a small
town with a strong human touch and beautiful small town. I'm lucky to have
grown up in this place, and it's an honor to photograph it for more people to see
its beauty.

Sibu is also nicknamed as ‘Swan City’. This came from a legend where famine
in Sibu ended when a flock of swans flew through the skies of Sibu.

Sibu is the main port and commercial centre of the Rejang basin and the
jumping-off point for exploring the mighty Rejang River, Malaysia’s longest
river.

I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my teacher Ms Gloria

who gave me the golden opportunity to do this wonderful project and for not
restricting our topics, letting us play freely and take the pictures we want to take
the most. Because of this, I have the opportunity to explore the place where I
grew up. I enjoy taking pictures and having a lot of fun from this project.
