Statement of Purpose: Application for Study Permit to complete my Post Graduate Program in Supply
Chain Management.

November 19, 2019.

To: The Visa Section

The Embassy of Canada
Makati City, Philippines.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am pleased to present my credentials and study plan in view of my unconditional admission for the Post
Graduate Program in Supply Chain Management from April 27, 2020 to January 07, 2022 at Lambton
College (DLI# O19305293332) Toronto campus in Ontario Canada. Prior to this application, I have applied for
Student Permit twice, one being on May 10, 2019, and the second was on July 2, 2019. However, both
applications were refused. I am hoping that through this letter I will be able to address the refusal notes in my
previous application and convince your good office that I am a bona fide student.

Brief Personal Information and Employment Background.

I am Hipolito T. Peregrin, married for almost seven years now and blessed with five children. I completed my
bachelor’s degree in Business Administration major in Management from the Polytechnic University of the
Philippines – Bataan branch from June 03, 1996 to April 18, 2001. I am a Supply Chain Executive with over 14
years of experience in Retail and Automotive Logistics and is currently employed in a full-time job as a Logistics
Executive at Al Futtaim Private Co. LLC in Dubai, United Arab Emirates since April 2005.

Prior to my relocation in Dubai UAE, I worked as a Youth Volunteer in our local community in Mariveles Bataan
from January 2002 up to June 2003 facilitating outreach programs for out-of- school youths. My main task was
to engage them to participate in our various activities such as sporting events and free livelihood programs being
offered by our Barangay (village) in cooperation with TESDA and other Non-Governmental Organizations. I also
worked as a Warehouse Clerk in Daeduck Philippines Inc., a manufacturing firm located in EPZA Rosario, Cavite
from July 2003 up to January 2005. As a warehouse clerk, my main job was to control and monitor the usage of
raw materials and consumables through effective practice of warehouse management system and strict
compliance on the standard operating procedures to prevent the inventory shortage and downtime in the
production line. It was through this experience that I gained a broader understanding and appreciation of
efficient Warehouse Management because of the advance method of Inventory Control with the aid of modern
technology.

For the past 14 years, I was considered as one of the key members in our Supply Chain Division because of the
skills I develop through time and the significance of my role and my dedication to work. Since I joined the Al
Futtaim Private Co. from April 2005, I successfully completed various in-house trainings in the field of Logistics.
My career progression has been fulfilling and rewarding with an excellent family package, which helped me
support the medication of my ailing mother and a handicapped sister. I am successful in providing the needs of
my family and support the education of my children. However, there were times where I started to feel that the
time and effort that I am exerting is not yielding the Leadership Recognition that I was hoping for. This was
because I do not have the necessary education and credentials aligned with Supply Chain Management. Hence,
I came up with the decision of investing in education aligned with my experience and future career goals.

Purpose of Visit. Having had the opportunity to learn some of the complex and practical aspects of Supply Chain
Management such as Logistics Management, Warehouse Operations Management and Cost Management on
an international setting through my previous and current employment, I am expecting to learn further the
diverse topics of Supply Chain Management by joining Lambton College for my Post Graduate program. I chose
Lambton College because they offer specific programs that are carefully outlined, focused and purposely driven
to guarantee the skills development of their students. The Supply Chain Management program of Lambton
College is accredited by the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council through its National Accreditation Program
(NAP) and this will give me the opportunity to apply for accreditation. Unfortunately, there is no nationally
recognized certification body that grants the same professional designation in the Philippines. My purpose to
study in Canada is to meet the educational requirements that will fortify my experience in Supply Chain
Management. This type of program is rarely offered in my home country. It is only available through a two-week
seminar or a very short program that does not guarantee the knowledge and training that I hope to acquire
because it will not tackle the diverse topics of the course. Therefore, completing this program in Canada is
beneficial to me rather than doing it in my country of residence since Canada has the abundance supply of highly
experienced and skilled faculties along with the prominent facilities as compared with the Philippines. My goal
is to come back vastly knowledgeable in my chosen field of study and become effective and reliable Supply Chain
Manager. I believe enrolling in Lambton College can provide me with a more extensive and up-to-date
knowledge, which I think will be to my advantage when I seek a higher level of job position to either on the same
company that I am currently working with or to some work opportunities abroad or in my home country.

Employment Prospects and Future plan in Country of Residence. As of today, I accumulated more than 14 years
of work experience in Dubai retail and logistics industry. My extensive hands-on experience sparked my interest
in pursuing a program that will give me higher chances of landing my dream job as a Regional Distribution
Manager or Supply Chain Manager in a broad Retail and Logistics industry. I strongly believe that completing
Post Graduate Program in Supply Chain Management at Lambton College will give me an in-depth knowledge,
specialized skills, greater advantage and solid foundation for a potential career growth in a highly competitive
job in Philippines. The manufacturing and retail sector as well as the Warehousing and Distribution industry in
the Philippines is continuously growing because of the global recovery of the worlds’ economy and robust
domestic demand. It is in this sector of the industry that I am looking to secure a job because of my international
work experience and excellent Canadian education. Part of my future goal is to establish a Warehousing and
Distribution business focusing on the distribution of affordable rice and flour to my hometown and its
neighboring municipalities. Being rice as the staple food of Filipinos and bread an all-time favorite snack, a
business venture in these primary commodities with consideration on the cost and product availability all year
round could directly help and impact the lives of many Filipinos. I also wish to explore in the later part of my
career to become a college lecturer. It is something I have wanted to pursue once I decide to leave the corporate
world. I consider it as an exciting opportunity for me to impart my knowledge to the young generation, as well
as share my wide and advanced experience in Supply Chain Management.

Current Employment Situation. My employer, Al Futtaim Group is one of the most diversified organization in
the Middle East with over 200 operating companies in Africa and Asia. As a Logistics Executive at Al Futtaim
Private Co LLC, my main job is to oversee the entire distribution flow of automotive brands like Toyota, Lexus,
and Honda. With the help of our overseas partners and agents, I facilitate the movement of new vehicles from
the various factories from the US and South East Asia down to our storage yard and showrooms in the UAE. My
position also plays an important role in the development and deployment of key system solutions that helps to
optimize the productivity of various department in the Supply Chain division. As recognition to my valuable
contribution to the company, I receive annual performance bonus, and a salary of 8,366 AED (115,000 PHP) plus
annual Family Leave Passage allowance convertible into cash for Air ticket of 17,000 AED (230,000 PHP). My
current job is based on an unlimited contract, which could be renewed every two years. I have attached copy of
my Employment and Salary Certificate as well as payslip from my April payroll reflecting the Leave Passage
Allowance.
Home Ties. I am a father to five beautiful children who all are based in the Philippines; they are my heart and
the reason for my sacrifices in life. Hence, I am motivated to pursue my journey as an international student and
complete the Supply Chain Management program for the future of my family especially for my children. After
completion of my program, my career goals in my home country will not only give me self-fulfillment but most
importantly, will allow me to be reunited with my family after being away from them for many years due to my
work overseas. It is the joy of every parent to witness their children achieve every important milestone of their
life. I have three brothers who are all married and well settled in our town. I also have an elder sister diagnosed
with bipolar disorder that received financial assistance from me and still lives in our ancestral house, it was my
mom last wish to me to look after the welfare of my elder sister. I have a small non-title residential property
located in my hometown in Mariveles Bataan, which someday, I would like to build an apartment unit from this
property as an investment. We also have another residential property located in Cavite, Philippines, which I
purchased with my wife in 2013. It’s a gated community equipped with all the modern amenities and perfect
for my growing family. This is our newly build house that my wife’s dream of for so long and when I return, we
will be moving there for good. My wife is currently working in Dubai UAE and regularly visits the Philippines to
spend time with our children and her family. I was born and raised in the Philippines. Majority of my good friends
and relatives are still to this day in the same neighborhood where I grew up. I am now forty-one years old and
by the time, I complete my program I will be forty-three years old. I want to spend the next fifteen years of my
working career in the Philippines. I foresee myself building my network and establishing myself to be a successful
business owner and devotes my time in helping my community. My goal in life, my aspiration, and desire, all
these reasons in life are driven by the motivation to enrich myself so that I could help and influence the lives of
those people that will cross my path in the future. While one would say that I might not recover the cost of my
education in Canada but the knowledge, training and international exposure as well as the recognition that I will
gain is more than valuable to satisfy my personal goal. Being the first member of my family to pursue post-
secondary education and earn a degree, I truly understand the importance of education and the advantage it
will bring to myself and to my family.

Proof of Financial Means. I acknowledge the fact that this decision to study abroad entails a lot of financial
consideration that might affect the lives of my family, and this is the very reason why I waited for the right
moment to come. Most of the money that I will be using to support my expenses in Canada will come from our
savings. My wife is also currently working in Dubai UAE and she earn a monthly salary of 4,780 AED (66,000 PHP)
she agreed to support the financial needs of our children while am pursuing my studies. I have secured a
Guaranteed Investment Certificate from Scotiabank of 10,000 CAD. A bank Deposit Certificate of equivalent to
15,300 CAD under my wife’s name issued by the BDO Bank in the Philippines, I have a savings account with
Standard Chartered Bank with current balance of 4,000 CAD. We also have Insurance and investment portfolio
with Sun Life Philippines amounting to 2,500 CAD; a motor vehicle Mercury Mountaineer 2010 Model Year with
a market re-sale value of 4,000 CAD and my approximate gratuity or end of service benefits for 14 years of
service is around 20,000 CAD. In addition to this, our two properties in the Philippines with a combine
approximate value of 65,000 CAD are available to be sold if needed. All the school-related fees, living expenses
and two-way tickets to the Philippines have been carefully considered. Please see attached documents on Proof
of Means of Financial Support.
The IRCC website has always been my guide and I am aware of my limitation on the Rules and Regulation for
International Student. I acknowledge that my privilege to stay in Canada is limited and only temporary. It is clear
to me from the beginning that as soon as I complete my program or when my legal status as an international
student ends, I must leave Canada. After the completion of my program, I will head back to my home country
the Philippines where my employment prospects, future goals, and plans remain a major focus. As I stated
above, I am a person with a deep interest in Supply Chain Management, looking to improve my knowledge and
skills through continuous training and education. It is my desire to acquire a World Class International Education,
but over the years, I must set aside that dream because of the hardship and responsibility to support the family.
Now that I am in a better position to pursue it, I humbly request your good office to reconsider my application
and grant the approval of my Study Permit application to pursue my Post Graduate program in Canada. Rest
assure that I will lawfully comply with all the rules and regulations and leave Canada at the end of my program.

Respectfully yours,
