Dear Consular Officer:

I’m APPLICANTS NAME, and I’m writing about my study permit to Canada. For four years
now, I've been working as an Analyst at Shell , one of the world’s most reputable oil & gas
companies. I've worked as administration and accounting staff at Banco De Oro, one of the
Philippines’ top banks, and I was even an executive assistant to the Chief Executive Officer. My
professional experience totals more than 10 years. My professional career in the field of
finance/accounting has provided me a stable career, and good life prospects.

Reason for Shifting Careers

Over the years I’ve enjoyed my work and made the most of my career in Finance earning work
commendations, and the trust of my managers and colleagues. I’ve also built up my self-
confidence and enjoyed a good compensation package. I’m a hard worker, highly reliable, goal-
oriented and an achiever. Admittedly, doing the same kind of job for over a decade has me feeling
exhausted, my job mostly requires sitting in front of a computer and dealing with tons of e-mails
and spreadsheets. As I climb up the corporate ladder, I realized that I'm starting to be less
passionate about what I’m doing. I am feeling dispassionate and suddenly felt the need to do
something that will give my life a deeper purpose, to touch lives, and get out of my comfort zone.
I want to do something that will give me fulfillment, opportunities to interact with and engage
with children. To me that is what being an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) represents.

Why Early Childhood Education?

Back in College, I did part-time volunteer work for outreach programs. I remember helping in a
small day care for little children. I realized then that our country especially needs early educators.
Every year, there are less Education students due to lower salaries. Teaching is not simply a
career, it is a commitment to developing both intellectual and physiological capacities of children.

Majority of day care or pre-school aged children can’t afford school. They’re not exposed to fun-
learning, and social activities vital to mold their emotional, social and physical development.
However, most of the parents focus on tertiary education. These are just a few factors which
motivates me more to pursue this kind of field.

I would like to invest time and effort learning as much skills and knowledge to become a
competent educator. Unfortunately, in the Philippines this program is not accessible. Given the
chance, this will fulfill my personal goal and eventually I will start my own learning center for
young learners affordable for middle and lower middle-class Filipino families.

Why Canada?

I was encouraged to study in Canada when I visited last year. It was a beautiful place with lots of
scenic views and kind, accommodating and disciplined people, who live in a highly diverse and
accepting culture. I consider Canada as one of the top countries for excellent Education, and a
safe place to live.
Why Centennial College?

I learned that Centennial College is one of the most reputable schools in Ontario and was ranked
as one of Canada's Top 10 Research Colleges in Canada last 2016. Based on my research, it really
suits my personality and chosen career. Centennial students enjoy great facilities, and learn with
high-tech tools, I’m confident it will be worth the sacrifices and the financial investment. I have
friends who study there and they gave good feedback. Lastly, I love the diversity in Centennial;
open to foreign students and they treat each other with fairness and equality.

Financial Resources

After I graduated from college, studying abroad has always been considered in my life goals.
That’s why I worked hard and invested in mutual funds and online selling to finance my long-
term goal. A portion of the money was inherited from my father through his retirement fund, add
to that some real estate properties I obtained from my parents. Also, I’m so lucky that my
common-law partner is a seafarer and provides me with regular remittances, which I can use to
finance my studies. Due to the support of my loved ones, it makes me more confident to pursue
my studies in Canada.

Plans after Study

When I earn my degree, I will come back to the Philippines to fulfill my responsibilities as a
daughter to my aging parents who might no longer be able to care for themselves. I am also my
parents’ appointee for our real estate investments in our hometown, especially since my older
sister is already married and based in Canada. The most exciting part of coming home, and
something that I’ve been looking forward to, is getting married. The contract of my seafarer
partner would have ended, we plan to get married and settle down in the Philippines to start our
own family. We’ve already experienced being away from each other and our loved ones, we know
the importance of having your family stay together. So as much as possible, after finishing our
own career goals, we are really planning to settle down in the Philippines where our own kids
will grow up with our parents and loved ones.

Career-wise, I can see the demand for teachers in our country as well as the demand for quality
education, especially that the K-12 system has been fully implemented in our country. It means, a
lot of opportunities for early educators who will provide children a good foundation.

International studies will give me an advantage which will serve as a ticket for a promising career
and to be qualified to teach in the top schools for nursery/kindergarten in our country. This will
open an opportunity to pursue my dream goal someday to build my own day care and to reach out
to those who can’t afford the right early childhood education. I really want to become part of
something big that will give more value to my work and to my life. I will be grateful if you can
consider my application to study in one of the prominent schools Canada.

Respectfully Yours,
