Re: Study permit application for Post-Secondary Diploma at Fanshawe College, London, Ontario, Canada

Introduction

I am Dipin sapkota (DOB 2005/03/13), a permanent resident of Putalibazar-10, Syangja, Nepal holding a
valid Nepalese passport (Pa..) I am self-motivated and energetic student who is dedicated towards his
ambition and I am currently willing to continue my further study in business supply chain and operations
(co-op) at Fanshawe college, London, Ontario, Canada.

Family background

I am single child of my parents and have a nuclear family which consists five members that include my
grandfather Kul Prasad Sapkota, my grandmother Dhan kumari sapkota, my father Lekhnath sapkota
and my mother Jamuna Sapkota. My father used to run hospitality business (food and beverage) with
other three partners in Malaysia however being single son of my grandparents, he returned to Nepal in
order to spend rest of his life with family. Now he is serving as a credit officer in “Civil saving and credit
co-operative limited”. My mother is engaged in partnership business firm “Ojash kirana stores” which
act as a distribution center of grocery items in Pokhara. My grandfather is former sub inspector of Nepal
Police and he is still engaged in the field of real state. My grandmother used to look after our house and
property but now she has handed all the property to my father because of her old age. My family has
been great motivation and advisor to me. They all are happy with my decision to pursue my further
studies in Canada and are providing all funding required to complete my studies along with living
expenses in Canada. My father has already paid one year tuition fees and you will find the receipt along
with other required documents.

Educational background

About my academic background, I completed my schooling form “Sopan English Boarding School” in the
year 2020 securing 3.70 GPA out of 4. For my high school, I made a decision to take management as my
further studies because of my interest in business sector. I am too keen on business activities since my
childhood and want to see myself as a successful entrepreneur. I completed my high school from
“Tribhuwan Aadarsha Secondary School” securing 3.48 GPA. After that I decided to take a year gap
between high school and my further studies to understand the business environment of my country, to
figure out right course for me that will align with my interest and to gain some real life experience
before starting my further studies. During this period I also worked for some months in our business
where I developed relationship with international suppliers who supply grocery items from India and
China to Nepal and are connected to our business. Moreover, I was able to understand how a business
functions and I also deciphered my interest and course that I should study. As I didn’t get a course that is
properly related to supply chain in my country my family decided that I should continue my further
studies in foreign country. Then, I appeared for the IELTS examination and secured an overall score of
7.5 (Listening 9, Reading 7.5, Writing 6.5, Speaking 6.5).

Why Canada?

After I unraveled what my interest is and which subject I want to study, I started searching colleges in
my country that offer supply chain related courses and can satisfy my need. Despite of my efforts, I was
unable to find such colleges in Nepal. Then my father suggested me to continue my study in foreign
country and told me to choose country that will satisfy our educational needs and can provide
experiential learning so that I can look after our business and carry potentiality to grow it after
completion of my studies. This suggestion was accepted by all family members. Then I did some
research and I found that Canada will be better choice for me because the colleges in Canada are well
known for their teaching, research and practices to produce qualitative human resources.

According to Institute of economics and peace’s, Canada is one of the peaceful nations in the world
with remarkable Global Peace Index score of 1.35 and stands globally at 11th position out of 163
countries which make Canada a safe heaven for international students. Moreover, according to U.S.
News Best Countries 2023, Canada is 4th best country for education and 7th best country for studying
abroad. Beside this Canada is a country where we can find students from different countries which will
definitely make me able to cope with people from different culture and will provide me valuable
experience when it comes to building relation. Students from developing as well as developed country
come to Canada for various purposes and they represent different culture and communities. Because of
this I can get good exposure to international community, know about their culture and gain knowledge
about trends in international market along with government policies of other countries which will be
beneficial for me when I will expand my business to a multinational company. Canadian qualification is
as one of the finest, especially in the field of management. So, I am confident that education in Canada
will help me enhance my skill and give me a good return of my investment which will help me to fulfill
my dream along with my parent’s expectation.

My course and college

As I worked with my mother for some months, I got opportunity to do some research in business field
and I found that supply chain business are that type of business which will always be in demand because
every company as well as individual require supply of materials for their daily operation. Beside this I
really enjoy establishing relationship with suppliers and customers. So, I decided to enroll myself in
course that will help me to enhance my skills and knowledge in the field of supply chain. I choose
Business Supply Chain and Operations as a course for my further studies and I believe that this course
will give me good return and make me able to handle positive as well as negative factors of a supply
chain business. My course really align with my interest and I am assured that it will be beneficial for me
when I will handle my business in my home country after completion of my study. The subjects that I
have to study in this course are really interesting and I am eager to gain more knowledge in those fields.
Some of the subjects I will be studying during my stay in Canada are;
• Business processes
• Principle of marketing
• Logistic management
• Retail management and ecommerce
• Business and resource planning
• Operations management

After I decided my course, I was in perplexing situation while choosing the right education provider for
me because Canada has many well reputed and top class colleges. Finally, after lots of research and
comparison, I decided to continue with Fanshawe College. The main reasons to choose Fanshawe are its
co-op program, facilities and quality of its education. My program consists of eight months of co-op
which will allow me to gain experience in real working environment and provide me knowledge about
how international companies function so that I can implement that Knowledge to take my business to
the next level. I had good conversation with current Fanshawe students and the feedback about
college’s facilities and education was really good. I also found that the teachers and other staffs are
supportive and friendly. Similarly, I did virtual tour of the campus and I am completely satisfied with the
facilities in classroom as well as amenities situated near the college.

Future Plans after completion of study

My goals are crystal clear and I have proper planning about it. After completion of my study, I will
definitely be able to handle a business because in Canada I will get opportunity to work in big supply
chain companies from where I can learn different strategies and generate new ideas to develop a
business. Then, I will return my host country to implement my learning to develop my medium sized
business to a large distributor company. Till the date, our business only supply groceries to retailers in
Pokhara valley however in future I am planning to expand it to other cities and introduce online
shopping system as there are no such companies in Nepal that provide reliable online shopping facilities
to the consumers. Even the famous international companies like Amazon and Alibaba does not have
their branches in Nepal so there is almost no competition in such business. It will also be easier to make
space among consumer because I am familiar with Nepalese culture and need of people in my country.
Nepal is developing country and it is certain that there will be more demand for supply chain in future.
As our business already has good relationship with foreign companies and suppliers, we will be in
advantageous position when it comes to expansion and competition.

After all my country is the place where I don’t have to put efforts to fit in. So, for me the academic life in
Canada is the preparation phase to begin the actual career journey in Nepal and I believe that it will be
much easier for me to grow in Nepal rather than lingering in the competitive land of Canada. So, I want
to complete my study, gain good international knowledge, work on my skill and then return to my own
place to drive my business toward success.

My parents and my well-wishers also have great expectations from me and being single child, I am only
one to look after my parents and make them proud about my achievements. They are eager to hand
over all the responsibilities and business to me and want to see me as a successful entrepreneur. They
are fully aware about my intention and are confident that I will be a responsible son who will guarantee
that his parents are given all the luxury, security and care in their afterward stage of life. Being a
successful entrepreneur in home country will make me and my family more prestigious and uplift our
social status which I will never be able to buy with money in any other part of the world.

At last, I hope that this letter has provided you with detailed information about my prospects in Canada.
Moreover, I am fully aware and assure that I will abide by all the rules and regulations laid down by the
college and the Canadian government. I highly appreciate your time and consideration to investigate my
application documents. Please kindly contact me if you have any confusion regarding my application.
