Dear Visa Officer,

Subject: Statement of Purpose in Accordance with the Application for Student Visa to Canada

I extend you the best greetings of the day.

I am drafting this statement with great hopes for my career and future as part of the application
for student visa to Canada. I have brought here for your scrutiny all the details you require of
me to assess my eligibility for the student visa.

I invite your attention to the details given here and I hope that you arrive at a positive
conclusion for the application.

About myself, my academic details and my family

My name is Arshdeep Singh and I was born in Punjab, India on 11 May, 1997. My family consists
of three members including myself. My father’s name is Davinder Singh and he is an
agriculturist. My mother’s name is Ravinder Kaur and she is a homemaker.

I completed my higher secondary course in commerce stream from Shaheed Baba Deep Singh
Senior Secondary School, Patti. I passed the examination with ‘B’ grade in 2016. In 2014, I
passed the 10th standard with 4.8 CGPA from DSP Public School.

How the course is being funded and sponsored

I have learned thoroughly about the financial requirements of staying and studying in Canada.
As such, my father has agreed to sponsor my stay and program in Canada. Being an
agriculturist, he has steady income and the details of the same have been appended with the
statement for your satisfaction.

Why have I chosen to do B.A. Economics?

When I was doing higher secondary course, I was fascinated by economics. I realized that the
subject was extremely dynamic and set the course of the world forth. I understood that macro
economics and micro economics are always at play deciding the fate of the world economy, a
nation’s economy and even a shop’s economy. As such, I realized that the scope of economics is
only going to get more and more prominent and extensive. My interest made me learn more
about economic concepts and allied statistical methods, and I gradually become invested in it.
This sprouted in me the desire to become an economic professional. As I discussed the same
with my teachers and researched upon the same online, I found that there are plenty of
opportunities to take advantage of. This made me poised to build a career in economics and
seek admission to B.A. Economics.

What made me opt for Canada instead of India or any other foreign country?

As I decided to pursue B.A. Economics, I thought that since economics is an extremely dynamic
subject global in nature, endowing myself with internationally-focused learning experiences
and global insights in the field is really crucial. As such, I overlooked the institutes in India as
they do not offer the global exposure I wanted to gain. However, as I started my research on
such countries as the US, the UK, Australia and Canada, I realized that despite offering unrivaled
quality and academic offerings, the UK, the US and Australia were too expensive to study for
me. Also, the academic and visa requirements of these countries were also not really
encouraging, I figured. On the other hand, I found that Canada was extremely affordable for me
and that it never compromised on the quality of academic offerings. Since I was also able to
learn that the undergraduate students from Canada are in great demand across the world, I
was convinced to consider the country for the program. Further, as Canada also was extremely
amicable and accepting, I went ahead and made the decision final.

What impressed me to select the University of Regina?

During my research to find a befitting university where I could do my undergraduate program in

economics, I was very particular that I must study in an enriching and pragmatic learning
environment. I discovered that the University of Regina offered such an environment to the
candidates by means of their academic curriculum, experiential learning methods and the
internships they offer to the students. The experiences of former students of the college that I
was able to read on various online resources and watch on social media helped me become
confident about the university that it would train and mold me to become the economics
professional I aspire to become. Since I also was able to understand about the extensive
academic capabilities and experienced faculty members, I was quite confident to choose the
university.

What are my career aspirations?

Once I complete the undergraduate course from Canada. I would like to return to India and
associate with a venerated organization in a befitting capacity. With the academic insights and
knowledge I have gained in economics and economic concepts, I would certainly be able to help
the business bring in more economy of scale in their operations. After gaining a few years of
experience in the market, I would like to go ahead and study master’s in the same field to gain
more knowledge and insights to further lead my career into a role that is more decision-making
and policy-creating capacity.
