After watching the film, please answer this simple question in at least 200 words:

"Based on how much you know about ASEAN at this point, what do you think is an ideal

response of a non-state actor like ASEAN to the issue portrayed by the movie?"

To answer the question, I would first like to point out what I think the issue is within the

movie which is the civil war between the Khmer Rouge Regime and its current government at

the time, along with the interference of the United States of America. Based on my existing

knowledge, I think that the ideal response from a non-state actor like ASEAN to the issue

portrayed in the movie is to conduct a meeting among its members to figure out how it should

help neutralize the problem in Cambodia, it should find a proper way to intervene with the

current state of the country. If ever no leader is available in Cambodia, it should be the

responsibility of ASEAN to try to negotiate peace talks and treaties between the opposing

ideologies of the two fighting parties and find a common ground in order to put an end to the

war. If a country is at a point wherein it no longer has control of its people, I think that the best

response for the ASEAN is to interfere without reservations. If ever ASEAN gets caught up in

the battle, then it is its duty to eliminate the ideology that will hurt the country even more.
