DESIGN CONCEPT

A businessman decided to build a car repair shop in Caloocan with a 2,400 sq.m.
vacant lot area. The client wants a plan and design of a proposed develop car repair shop for
its functional, high-technology and industrialism architecture.

In this project, a car repair shop is inspired by the architecture of  Daigo Ishii and
Future-scape architects, the Mederu Auto Repair Shop in Nigata City, Japan. The majority of
the building are classified with strong color and fanciful shape commercial establishments' and
monotone offices and warehouses with no interest in design and are finished in gray or beige
color'.

This project is a one storey building with 2 wings such as east and west wing with an 8
meter wide unroofed driveway separating the east and
west wing. In industrial architecture, the use of high
ceilings, concrete, glass and steel, less ornamentation
and usually a box-type buildings.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

The proposed car repair shop is inspired by the design philosophy of Daigo Ishii and the
Future-scape architects where they addressed the relationship of architecture into the society.
He said that architecture is not a direct reflection of the client’s desires, but rather should be
filtered through the relationship with society. Which is mean that the architecture will base on
the society’s need.

Therefore, in Caloocan, there are a lot of auto-repair shops however, the client
(businessman) wanted to have a highly functional, and high-technology advancement in his
own shop to serve the users with a quality repaired and remodeled car.
