3D PRINT: TINKERCAD PRACTICES

PRACTICE 1
We are going to design a basic castle.

1.– Choose a box and set the dimensions to 80x 80 x 60 (height) Fig1

2.– Copy the box and set the dimensions of the new box to 70 x 70 x 60

3.– Use the align tool to center both boxes. Fig 2.

4.– Convert the inner box into a hole and Group them. Fig 3.

5 .– To create the battlements, take a cube and give dimensions 5 x 90 x 30.

Transform it into a hole. Fig 4

6.– Make 4 copies and place them to create the battlements, fitting them at
the same height. Fig 5

7.– Group all the objects to get the Fig.6

8.– Now select the cylinder and the cone to build the tower.

9.– Use the align tools to place correctly the roof and then, group the shapes.

10.– Position the tower in a corner of the previous object

11.– Finally, choose the right shape to create the main door and the tower balcony.

PRACTICE 2
Using different shapes, holes and grouping tool, desig
the figure shown. Start by designing a 40 mm x 40 par-
allelepiped with a 15 mm height. Cylinder diameter: 18
mm
Design a hexagonal prism: 5,32 mm x 6,14 mm, and
make three copies. Place them in the corners and then
move them towards the center by clicking the mouse
three times. Save it (export) as “practice 2.stl”.

PRACTICE 3: Repository.
Go to Thingiverse.com and download the badge (emblem) of your favorite team and size it as you
like (the file will probably be compressed as “.zip” so extract it before importing to Tinkercad). Save
it (export) as Practice 3.stl

PRACTICE 4: 3D Images

In Tinkercad it is possible to create 3D shapes from 2D designs. They need to be in SVG format. Select an
image (better a drawing than a photo) in jpg format and convert it into SVG. You can use any online free
converter like: https://convertio.co/es/svg-png/ (follow instructions to get your file). Once you have the im-
age in svg format, just click “Import” (upper right corner on your tinkercad screen) and follow instructions.
Save it as “Practice 4.stl”
PRACTICE 5: 3D Text
Text: “De Madrid al Cielo”, Font Seriff (or other available font), thickness: 25 mm, Height: 20 mm Width:
100 mm. Make the text hollow.
Now design a prism with following dimensions: 10 thick x 120 width x 30 high. You should adjust the text
to the prism to get the following:

Optional:
Use scribble to
write the text
you want.

Finally, design the base with the following dimensions: 5 mm thick, 40 high and 150 wide. We have to
align and center horizontally and vertically both shapes and then group them to get the final design:

PRACTICE 6.
Design a 20 x 20 x 40 mm prism, so it is lying down.
Now make a cylinder with a diameter of 20 mm. Let
lie the cylinder down and make it longer than the
prism. Transform the cylinder into a hole, center it
with the prism and raise it 10 mm.
Finally, to make the groove, we should use another
prism with dimensions 15 x 4 x 20 mm.
The final result should be the image on the right.
Save it (Export) as “Practical 6.stl".

PRACTICE 7: Free design. If chosen by your classmates it will be printed and you’ll get a better
grade.
Challenge (extra points): Design a Lunar Rover
