Let’s have an activity 

Recall your past lesson about orthographic projection.

Rearrange the figures to form a pictorial view based from the given
orthographic views.

Raise your hand if you want to solve the puzzle 

What is the significance or importance of understanding
pictorial drawing?

Pictorial Drawing is used to communicate ideas which cannot be

easily described in words. It is used by engineers, architects and all
types of designers and drafters to illustrate the size, shape and form
of an object. It allows the designer to draw an object in three
dimensions.
AXONOMETRIC DRAWING
Axonometric Drawing

Is a pictorial drawing which shows the front,

side, and top faces of an object in one view.

Three Divisions of Axonometric Drawing

1.Isometric

2.Dimetric

3.Trimetric
Principles of Axonometric Drawing

 Isometric Drawing – all receding edges are 30 degrees.

 Dimetric Drawing – one receding edge is 15 degrees and the other

one is 45 degrees.

 Trimetric Drawing – all receding edges are 15 degrees.

Note: Receding – from the root word ‘recede’, it means to go or move back or further away from a
previous point or position.
Isometric Drawing :

 Isometric means ‘having equal measure’.

 The lengths are projected at 30º to the horizontal.

 All the heights are projected vertically upwards.

 Using your 30/60 triangle or your protractor, project the

isometric axis at 30º.

 Find the start point of the drawing and project a vertical

line upwards, this is your vertical axis.
Example: Given this figure, construct an isometric drawing. Follow
the steps in creating isometric drawing.
