2.1. Basic Steps of Modeling:
• Select a face or plane
• Start new sketch
• Draw geometry
• Tie geometry to the origin
• Add relations
• Create the feature (extrude, revolve, extruded cut etc.)
Rectangle Command
Circle Command
Sketching a Line:
1. Click Line symbol on the Sketch toolbar, or click Tools > Sketch Entities > Line.
The pointer changes to

Sketching a Rectangle:
You can sketch the following rectangle types
Rectangle type Tool Rectangle properties
3 Point Center Rectangle Sketches rectangles with a center point at a selected angle.
The SOLIDWORKS application defaults to the last used rectangle type. You can also use the
rectangle tools (Sketch toolbar).
To access the rectangle tool;

2.3. Dimensioning:
Sketches are displayed in various states. To fully define the sketch, you add relations and apply
dimensions using the Smart Dimension tool (Dimensions/Relations toolbar). The types of
sketch entities can also affect dimensioning functions.
To add a dimension to a sketch or drawing:
Fully Defined
• Appears as black in the graphics area and under Relations in the Display/Delete Relations
property manager.
• Indicates all required dimensions and relations to sketch entities are present, without
redundant or unnecessary elements that cause the sketch to be over defined.

Over Defined
• Contain conflicting dimensions or relation or both.
• Over-defined sketch entities are yellow in color.

Step 3:
Now using dimension command edit all of the dimensions according to given practice drawing.
Use circle command to draw a circle some ware in the drawing as shown below.
