How to open Pro/E Wildfire 2.0 in windows:

The Pro/E Wildfire 2.0 setup utility automatically creates a program group and places a shortcut icon
on the desktop.
Double click icon on the desktop or choose from the start menu. The main window opens on your
desktop. The part mode of the main window is shown in figure

Graphic user interface of Pro/E Wildfire 2.0 Graphic Windows:

Graphic window is a work area where the models are drawn and modified. Graphic window contains
the datum plane and co-ordinate system.

Dash Board:
A Dash board is the context sensitive area that guides you through the modelling process. As you
select the geometry and set your preferences the dash board narrows your available options , so that
you can work on the targeted area

Information Area:
The information area contains the message area and a status bar. The message area displays system
message that prompt you for required information

Model Tree:
The model tree lists all the features operations performed on the model. The model structure is
displayed in the hierarchical format with root object at the top of its tree and subordinate objects
below.
Viewing Control:
Viewing tool allow you to adjust the appearance and usage of objects within the graphics window.
Repaints the screen zoom inside , zoom out, adjust the viewing scale to refit the model are some of the
tools available in the main tool bar.

Model display:
The following model display tool icons are used to control the display of the model. Wire frame
model, wire frame model without hidden lines, shaded geometry are the tools in this main tool bar

Opening files:
To open a file, click the icon or choose file > open , the dialog box appears navigate to the folder
containing the files and click open the object appears in the graphic window

Selecting The working directory:

The working directory sets the default folder for opening and saving models. To select a working
directory from the file menu > choose file > select working directory

Creating New Files:

You can create a new sketch, part, assembly drawing or any supported file format using the New
command
Click the icon or click file > New…….the new dialogue box opens.
Select type of files to be created. If the sub types are available, they are listed. Select the sub types if
required.

Saving Files:
You can save files using Save or Save a Copy commands. From the save a copy dialogue box, you can
also export files to different format and save files are as image to save an object > click > File > Save.
The save object dialogue box opens, select the directory in the look in window. Click OK to save the
file
UNIT II
SKETCHER

A sketcher is a 2D section of the feature being created. It is a basic 2D shape and is created on a planar
reference. You can create and stone a sketch and also recall it when constructing the sketched feature

Basic Steps in creating a sketch

1. Sketch the required section in geometry
2. Add constrains to the geometry
3. Add dimensions to the geometry
4. Add relations to the sketch
5. Regenerate the section

Creating geometry (Section in sketcher):

Pro/E Wildfire 2.0 provides effective tools to create the geometry. When you create the geometry, the
system adds dimensions and constrains automatically. You can redefine them when required.

Drawing a line:
The line command draws line segments by specifying the end points.

Creating a centre line:

Centre lines are used to define the axis of a revolved feature and to define a line of symmetry within a
section or to create construction lines.

Creating a Rectangle
A rectangle is created by specifying the two diagonal corners of the object. To create a rectangle, click
create rectangle icon, specify the diagonal corners of the rectangle in the sketcher window, to complete
the rectangle.

Creating a Circle:
Four methods available to draw a circle
1. Circle using centre point, a point on the circle.
2. Concentric circles.
3. 3 point circles.
4. Circle tangent to 3 entities.

Creating an Ellipse
The Ellipse command allows you to create a full ellipse whose axis are parallel to the horizontal and
vertical axis of the sketch

Creating Arcs:
You can create circular arcs using any one of the options specified below
1. 3 point/Tangent end
2. Concentric
3. Centre/Ends
Creating Fillets:
You can create fillets using any one of the options specified below
1. Circular Fillet
2. Elliptical Fillet
Circular fillet command creates smooth corners. The elliptical fillet constructs an elliptical arc between
the two selected entities

Point:
The point command creates points in the sketched window. To create a point click the create point
icon.

Palette:
You can create points in common predefined sections by using palette predefined sections.
1. Polygons
2. Profiles
3. Shapes
4. Stars

Dimensioning the sketch:

A sketch should be adequately constrained and dimensioned at any stage of its creation. The system
automatically dimensions the geometry as you sketch the dimensions are known as weak dimensions
because the system controls, you can add your own dimensions to create the desired dimensioning
effect.

Creating Normal Dimensions:

With the normal dimension command, You can define linear, angular and diametrical dimensions.

Working with constraints:

Constraints are logical operations performed on the selected geometry to define its position
You can apply the following types of constraints to the sketch
a. Vertical:- It makes a line or two vertices to be vertical
b. Horizontal:- It makes a line or two vertices to be horizontal
c. Perpendicular:- It makes two entities to be perpendicular to each other
d. Tangent:- It makes two entities tangent to each other
e. Midpoint:- It forces a selected point on the vertex to lie on the middle of a line
f. Collinear constraints:
g. Symmetry:- It makes a section symmetrical about the centre line
h. Equal length:- Create equal length or radius
i. Parallel:- It makes two lines to be parallel to each other
UNIT III

PART MODELLING
Entering the part mode:
To enter in the part mode choose file new. The new dialogue box opens shown in fig.

Datum Planes:
Generally the first features in the part mode are the three default datum planes. Sketches for the part
models are created on the datum planes. You can define your own datum planes by specifying the
plane, surface, edge, or part as reference.

Extruding sketches:
Extrusion is the process of defining a volume by protruding/removing the sketched cross section along
an axis normal to the section plane. An extrude feature is based on a two dimensional sketch.

Revolving a sketch:
The revolve command revolves/rotates the sketched section through a specified angle about a centre
line. By revolving a sketch you can add or remove the material.

Sweep Feature:
The sweep option extrudes a section along a defined path. For creating a sweep, you have to define or
create a section and path. The path (Trajectory can be open or closed one). The sweep option can be
used for adding/removing material.

Helical sweep:
The helical sweep command extracts a section along a helical trajectory. For this command, you have
to define a trajectory that will specify the shape and height of the helix, pitch value and the cross-
section of the helical features.

Blend:
A blend command creates a feature by joining two or more planar sections at their edges to form a
continuous feature.

Draft:
Drafts are created by rotating the selected surface in a certain angle. You can specify an angle value -
30 and 30o for drafts. Drafts are mostly used in constructing molds and castings.

Hole:
In normal engineering practice holes of counter bore, countersunk, tapered or drilled types are used.
You can create all types of holes in Pro/E Wildfire 2.0.
Following are two methods to create holes.
1) Simple hole
2) Standard hole
Rib:
A rib feature is a thin fin or web protrusion which attaches solid surface in your design.
Typically, ribs are designed to strengthen the parts in your design and are often used to prevent
unwanted bending.

Shell:
A shell feature creates a hollow surface inside the solid, leaving the solid like a shell with specified
wall thickness. Additionally it allows you to specify the thickness of the surface, that you want to
remove from the shell.

Rounds:
A round is used to create fillet between surfaces. It is a type of edge treatment feature in which a
radius is added to an edge on the edges and an edge chain between the surfaces.

Chamfer:
Chamfer is used to level the selected edges and corners with the help of some specified parameters.
