Evelyn is a Firearm in Bloodborne; it's one of three

pistol firearms in the game.

Evelyn Description
"Special pistol used by Cainhurst knights.
The Evelyn uses Quicksilver Bullets, just as any
workshop firearm, but the Cainhurst variant relies more
on bloodtinge.
Lovingly named after a woman and graced with an
intricate design, Evelyns were adored by Cainhurst
knights."

Evelyn Information
Requires 16 Bloodstone Shards, 16 Twin
Bloodstone Shards, 16 Bloodstone Chunks, 1
Blood Rock and 6720 Blood Echoes to fully
upgrade.

Location
It is found inside a chest in Cainhurst Castle in the
library room near the elevator shortcut filled with
ghosts (Bound Widow) and barricaded behind
tables. You will need to jump from a nearby library
staircase to reach the chest.
Sold by the Messengers after joining the
Cainhurst Vilebloods at Cainhurst Castle.

Player Notes
It has the highest potential Bloodtinge scaling
amongst all firearms in Bloodborne.

At 20 Bloodtinge and below, the Hunter

Pistol deals more damage. At 21, both
firearms are equal, and at 22+ the Evelyn
deals superior damage.
However, the Repeating Pistol deals more
damage at the cost of using two Quicksilver
Bullets instead of one.
It has a unique pattern for firing compared to the
other two pistols that very slightly affects the area
shot.
When comparing the Evelyn to the
Repeating Pistol for a high bloodtinge build, it's
important to try to find a balance between factors
of ammo consumption, damage per shot and the
enemy's defenses. While the Repeating Pistol
offers more damage per shot, the Evelyn deals
more damage per Quicksilver Bullet. 

At the same time, the Repeating Pistol

consumes 2 bullets for a single instance of
damage where spending 2 bullets with the
Evelyn warrants 2 shots and in turn 2
seperate instances of damage, given both
land. Therefore, the overall damage
potential of 2 bullets spent with a shot from
the  Repeating Pistol will only be reduced
once, where with 2 shots/bullets from the
Evelyn, total damage is reduced twice.
Given  an enemy with low enough blood
defense the Evelyn still has the potential to
deliver more damage over time, however at
higher levels the Repeating Pistol becomes
a more dependable choice.
While the Repeating Pistol does have more
dependable raw damage output, as a
parrying tool the Evelyn is a far more
economically viable pick for the simple fact
that it consumes ammunition at half the rate
of it's competition. Given this choice, not
only will a player have double the damage
potential for delivering ripostes with the
default number of 20 bullets, but also be
able to make full use  of the 5 additional
blood bullets they can create at any
time.  Given 2 players with a total of 25
bullets each, the one with a Repeating Pistol
can only execute 12 parries where the one
with the Evelyn can execute the full 25.
It has a unique firing animation, but doesn't shoot
any faster than the other two pistols.

For a pure gun build in PVE, use both Repeater

and Evelyn (with Reiterpallasch in the right
hand, of course). Start fights with Repeater and
use Bone Marrow shots for the insane damage
output. Once you're out of BMA, switch to the
Evelyn. You get more sustain out of it, and can
spam away with your blood bullets without
wasting that last shot.

I've always used Evelyn as my primary firearm.

From my personal experience of putting 1500

hours into this game. This weapon is amazing
at parries 6 to 8 feet between your target.
Evelyn wasn't built to be CQ. Because of its
range and accuracy, it takes pride in keeping
an average distance between the player. It's
made for picking people off and setting up
viscerals. Also, its great against bosses whom
can be parried. I recommend you use this
against Kos. I was able to prevent his second
phase by spamming viscerals.

I've 1 hit a guy with a +10 evelyn with 40

bloodtinge at lvl 64. Bone marrow ash + a 30%
blood attack gem is just beautiful. ~750
damage. ALWAYS level vitality first boys.

I think people are a little too quick to call this

the best firearm in the game. The Hunter pistol
outdamages it if bloodtinge is 20 or below. The
repeating pistol outdamages it at every level,
but costs an extra bullet to fire. If you are using
a pistol with high BT, you likely want a gun that
does as much damage as possible, which is
the repeating pistol. I very rarely use all 20
bullets unless I'm using a cannon. Every other
enemy drops bullets, you can get two different
formless oeden runes very early in the game,
and bullets are cheap to buy; blood bullets also
help. The Evelyn takes the longest to obtain
from the start, and it has that weird long-barrel
weakness. All I'm saying is that some
arguments can certainly be made against this
weapons favor.

For a Blootinge build, the best pistol is the

Repeating Pistol. It does way more damage
than the Evelyn. Just don't spam it, you'll run
out of ammo quick

Exceptional as an offhand tool at higher tinge.

The only thing other pistols have over it at that
point is length. You might have enemies clip
through the thing's long barrel during parry
attempts. The thing is as long as a
blunderbuss, but you shoot the blunderbuss at
the waist while you extend your arm for pistols,
which can lead to awkward missed parries.
This is rare, obviously, but very apparent when
it inevitably happens

life saver. some bosses have broken hitboxes

combined with insane damage. THis weapon
helps. Also great against Bloody Crow and
Maria.

If the enemy is standing to close to you, a shot

from Evelyn will miss entirely as the bullet fires
farther away from the player.

