INTERNAL MEMORANDUM
This has reference to the Internal Memorandum of the Chief, Forest Policy, Planning
and Knowledge Management Division on the instruction of the Undersecretary of Finance,
Information Systems and Climate Change re: Executive Order (EO) No. 710, S. 2008 entitled
“ Nationwide Adoption of the Corn-Based Farmers-Scientist Research Development and
Extension (RDE) Training Program (FSTP) for Sustainable Agriculture Development to
liberate Poor Farmers from the Bondage of Poverty and Hunger”, requesting inputs based on
the function of DENR as stipulated in the EO vis-à-vis the Forest Investment Development
Division Activities/Targets.
In line with the mandate of the Bureau and Division’s function and cross-cutting
targets and activities, and as indicated in the EO No. 710, under 2.1.4 DENR function, the
Division recommends to revisit the contribution of agroforestry particularly those with annual
crops such as corn, in achieving food security, enhancing climate change adaptation and
mitigation, and reducing land degradation.
