Rebekah Gibbs, Instructional Technology Specialist, Caddo Parish Public Schools encompasses the flavor and
diversity of the community we serve. Our district comprises 58 schools representing students from rural,
suburban and urban areas of Caddo Parish. Caddo is home to 12 National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence
earning 15 awards as designated by the U.S. Department of Education while boasting several of the state’s top-
performing schools. The district is currently home to 10 students with perfect ACT scores and 16 National Merit
Scholarship Finalists. As one of the largest school districts in the state of Louisiana, Caddo serves
approximately 37,000 students in grades pre kindergarten through 12th grade. Mirroring the community we serve,
71 percent of students attending Caddo Parish Public Schools represent minority populations with 72 percent of
students in poverty. As an Instructional Technology Specialist my students are teachers in which my role is
enhancing the learning environment with the usage of technology-based strategies. In our department, it is our
goal to explore, implement and model effective instructional strategies using technology. I provide professional
development opportunities through various models such as one on one coaching, PLC small group, as well as
district wide opportunities.
