Unit 5 Proposal Outline

Directions: Using the proposal from SB p.58 as a guide, create outline notes (complete sentences not necessary) for a
proposal you have for Lawrence S. Ting School. You may propose a club such as the one discussed in the example, or
you may propose any other changes you would like to see at the school. However, you should try to be as specific as
possible. In other words, if you are not proposing a club, be very specific about one change you would like to see at
the school and how you propose to enact that change. Please follow the structure shown below.

I. Introduction (Introduce the main topic of your proposal and why it is important for the school. If possible, identify any
problems your “project” might address, and briefly state how your club or change will positively impact the school/LSTS
students.)

Problem: The lack of furniture in the learning spaces

Reason: The school won’t do anything about it.

Change: Open a fundraiser event to fund raise for better facilities and furniture for the learning spaces for each house

II. How it would work/How you would enact the change at school (Explain how you will start the club or enact the
change at school. What work do you need to do? Whose support do you need? Etc.)

The event will held on a Friday, during the last 2 periods.

The event will feature food stalls or gift shops and games (ranging from physical to intellectual challenges) to play, along
with 2 movies to watch in the gym in case people don’t like to stay in the humid air outside.

Each class will contribute a stall to event or a game that will help us raise the funds needed for each house so they can
afford the furniture they needed.

We need the support of the parents, students, and the faculty so we can comply with their demands and estimate the
costs and funds.

III. Advantages of the club/change FOR STUDENTS (How will the club or change positively impact LSTS students? Use at
least one conditional form in this section – see SB p. 138 for information about conditionals.)

The change will help the students to acquire marketing skills in a competitive environment.

And if they finally have the necessary funds, they could afford utilities at the learning spaces. (tables, chairs, etc.)

When that happens, all houses can opt to join to continue with the event monthly but on a smaller scale so they can
achieve their goals and improve the quality of the learning rooms.

IV. The role of the club at school/How the change would benefit the SCHOOL (How will the club or change positively
impact LSTS as a whole? How will the addition of the club/change make LSTS a better place? Does your plan relate to
any of the LSTS Core Values? How?)

The faculty could lower their budget for the learning spaces once they got the necessary funds for the learning spaces
for cosmetics, and other criteria needed for the school.

Students won’t have to go to the library or stay in class every self-study period.

The change will help the school to finally add their finishing and necessary touches that the student population needs.
V. Conclusion (Summarize your proposal and reiterate how it will solve a problem or make LSTS a better place.)

To sum up, a fundraising event would help the students to improve the learning spaces of the four houses. The change
will help the school to finally add their finishing and necessary touches that the student population needs.
