solenoid valve, control cabinet.
The control system is arranged through a controller program, which collect information from UV
sensor and lamp monitors, so that the solenoid valve on output pipe can be controlled at such
conditions like the Lamp failure and the UV dosage lower, the solenoid valve will be closed , to
protect unqualified water passing through to potable water system; meanwhile , a lamp
running-hours accumulator will deliver alarm while running hours reaches to 7200 hours and valve
will be closed when running hours reaches 8000hrs.

4.0 Operation

4.1 Initial start-up

Please check the power supply before start-up the unit

z Check the power supply

z Fill the chamber by fresh water :

Opening the upper vent valve

Slowly open inlet valve, avoiding water impact to quartz and cause damage.

When water vent out on top, then close it.

Keep inlet valve open completely.

4.2 Operation and description of panel

1. Start-up of UV Sterilizer

While start up the unit, it will take two minutes delay for opening of solenoid valve. So that
the UV lamp to be warmed up to maximum outputting.
When power on the unit, there should be intensity page illustrated upon initializing of
controller, detail as follow:

2. Flow diagram of interface operation:

The unit contains three key interface pages:

1. Status page
2. System setting page

User can change-over page item by pressing , , , on controller panel,

each of them that’s corresponding to the key “ Exit, PgUp, PgDn, Set”.

3. General description of page

For detailed description of item in each page as follow:

1) Intensity of UV ray

This is the main page of unit, which will enter into this page upon star-up automatically,
the page intended for displaying of UV intensity. The page illustrates range of UV ray:
1%~100%. The system is running normally when UV ray stabilized within 50%~100%. If
UV intensity is less than 50%, an alarm occurs, solenoid valve to be shut off
simultaneously.

2) Hour meter of lamps

-5–
Date: 2014-12 UV-STERILIZER

Rev: UIV-10

This page displays the hour accumulation of lamp, which gives record accumulated
running hours of UV lamps. There is two time value designed, 7200 hours and 8000 hours
alternatively. When the UV lamp running is over 7200 hours, the system will give
attention to user for prepare spare of UV lamp. If 8000 hours running up, the system will
shut down the solenoid valve, and alarm occur.

3) Status of UV lamp

The system can control and monitor 5 UV lamps in maximum, which can illustrate the
status of each UV lamp. From right to left, which is corresponding to the status of
No.1~No.5 UV lamps interface channel. Each code of “O, F, X” stands for different
status of UV lamp. “O” stands for interface channel is normal. “F” stands for faulty of
subject channel is in faulty. “X” stands for non-use of subject channel. For example,
“XXXOF” stands for faulty of #1 interface channel, Normal of #2 channel and it’s non-use
of 3~5 channels.

4) Status of solenoid valve “V1”

Subject page displays the status of solenoid valve, if solenoid valve is open, which display
“Open”. If not, display “Close”.

5) Voltage of UV sensor

-6–
Date: 2014-12 UV-STERILIZER

Rev: UIV-10

For easy test and inspection, the system provides input voltage of UV sensor, the user can
test and inspect the function of system accordingly.

6) Reset of Hour meter

If running hour of UV lamp exceeds setting, or defectives of UV lamps. The UV lamp

must be replaced accordingly. The user could enter into subject page, and reset the hour
meter upon replacing of UV lamps.

Press , A confirm manual is pop out,

and then press to confirm the operation or press to cancel the operation.

7) Setting of UV lamp interface channel

The system provides 5 UV lamp interface channels in maximum, the user can define
certain channels. From right to left, which stands for the status of #1 to #5 channels, if the
value is “1” of corresponding bit, it means subject channel is occupied in use, if the value
is “0” of corresponding bit that means subject channel is un-use.

Press , the configure manual pop out,

The interface has the cursor which flashes, the in current operation port, user can move the

cursor by pressing or . Press can change status of the port which

instructed by cursor. After the change finished press withdrawal establishment

page, and preserves the establishment parameter.

8) Manual operation of solenoid valve

User wants to manually open or close solenoid valve for testing and commissioning. The

system provide subject page for this purpose, by pressing manually open or close
solenoid valve.
When user step out subject page, the control right will shift program automatically.

Faulty information

The system provides monitoring functions of status, intensity, running time for UV lamp. If
something wrong, an alarm caused or error code for user attention. When alarm occurs, which is to
be extended to remote terminal, and flashing on local panel for user attention. If user acknowledges
alarm, the lamp will light off.

1) Intensity low

For example: subject page illustrated defective of #1 UV lamp. Corresponding error as

follow:
z Defective of fuse(fused)
z Defective of UV lamp
z Defective of electronic ballast
z Defective of Power PCB

3) Stand-by attention of UV lamp

The system running over 7200 hours, the system will call use for stand-by of
replacement of UV-lamp. The use can still run the system till 8000 hours.

4) UV lamp running time

Subject page illustrated the UV-lamp is running over 8000 hours, the UV lamp must
change accordingly, and solenoid valve shut off automatically. Please reset hour meter
upon replacement of UV-lamp.

4.3 Control cabinet

y The control cabinet is equipped with HSC-2, which arranged on cabinet cover, there is power
and alarm LED arranged on front of cover.

arrow key available for page turning.

y Once alarm rising, certain information to be displayed on screen of controller.

4.4 UV-lamps

The UV-lamps is specially made by Phillips, which fits adapter for easy connection. The UV-lamp
gives 8000 hours life, the UV ray reaches 254nm that specially designed for potable water
sterilizing.

5.0 Maintenance and service

The UV-Sterilizer should be carried out periodic maintenance, so that the unit is kept in regular
condition. When the UV-sterilizer running for long time, there is some dirties stained on the surface
of quartz jacket, this will cause UV ray reduced, and slow down the sterilizing capacity. Meanwhile
the sight quartz of UV-sensor is also to be carried out periodic cleaning, otherwise it will cause
drop-down of detecting accuracy.
Meanwhile please take care, the inlet and outlet valve must be position in close during cleaning
procedure. And be careful of dismounting, since quartz jacket and lamp is easy for crack, and
damage hands.

5.1 Cleaning and replacing of quartz sleeve

1. Close inlet and outlet valves.

2. Power-off the unit.

3. Open vent and drain valves.

4. Dismantle UV-lamp and quartz jacket in carefully.

5. Clean them with a soft cloth and industrial alcohol.

6. Mount UV-lamps and connect them.

7. Close drain valve and open vent, slowly open inlet valve till venting of water on top, then
close vent and open inlet & outlet valve completely.

8. Check no leakage, then power on the unit.

9. Check the displaying on controller screen, if no alarm. The unit is ready for use.

2. Turn off power supply.

3. Open vent and drain valve, empty the chamber.

4. Unplug the UV sensor, and dismantle UV sensor and sight quartz.

5. Clean it with soft rag carefully.

6. Mount UV sensor and sight quarts again.

7. Close drain and keep vent open, then open inlet valve slowly till vent over flow, then
close vent valve

8. Open inlet and outlet valves completely, check no leakage.

9. Power on the system.

10. Check the displaying on controller screen, if no alarm. The unit is ready for use.

5.3 Replacing and cleaning of UV-lamps

The UV-lamp is to be replaced in period, every 8000 hours or the UV intensity is to be dropped to
certain level that activating alarm. Please change UV-lamp and keep UV-Sterilizer running in good
condition.

Please follow up to change UV-lamp.
