PACQUIAO SHRUGS OFF

CONTROVERSIAL ISSUE

More than two decades ago, Kid Kulafu, famously known as Manny
Pacquiao, was an underdog at that time that was set to become a boxer
who can not only bark, but also bites. So, you think you know Manny
Pacquiao. Maybe, if you’re a boxing enthusiast. Chances are you don’t
know what really happens inside and outside the ring.

8-Division World Boxing Champion Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao

had an issue that was considered as a joke but then was reviewed by
people across the globe. An illegal action was made by famous boxing
referee Carlos Padilla that he thought would help Pacquiao be famous
and win the match against the Australian boxer Nedal Hussein.

On Tuesday, a drunk Carlos Padilla revealed a ground-breaking decision

by him during Pacman’s fight against Hussein in the year 2000 that occurred
on America.

“My father is an 88-year-old man who is just that – old and aging!
Despite the fact that he has been living in the United States for decades,
English remains his 2nd language. Communications can be misconstrued and
well-intentioned words can be misinterpreted,” wrote Suzy Padilla-Tuano,
daughter of Carlos Padilla. “The present situation is one such glaring
example of what might have actually been said and what may have been
taken out of context.”

The daughter of the boxing referee said her dad does not need
controversies at this very late stage in his life, encouraging the community
to appreciate his contributions to the sport and give some well-deserved
consideration.

“My father is a decent and honorable man. He dedicated his life to

boxing and boxers and cared for them and their well-being, regardless of
nationality or circumstance. He refereed numerous historic fights with the
likes of Muhammad Ali, Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, and many more fighters
for the entirety of his career,” she said.

Pacquiao dealt with the situation and finally gave his response to the
issue.

“That’s not my problem. I just did my part as a respective boxer. I don’t

know if the counting was right or he prolonged the count. But we have
videos, so we may see and replay what happened,” he said.

The 8-Division World Boxing Champ further elaborated what happened

throughout the fight.

“Tinamaan siya ng uppercut ko. Hindi headbutt ‘yun… Mapapanood

naman ng taong bayan. Mapapanood nila, sila na maghusga… Sorry to say
this, baka gusto lang makilala ulit. But you know I respect Carlos Padilla.
Nirerespeto ko siya at iginagalang,” stated Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao. “It
was a clean fight for me.”

Former professional boxer Nedal “Skinny” Hussein of Australia on

Wednesday spoke up about referee Carlos Padilla's statements where the
latter revealed that he helped Manny Pacquiao in a fight back in 2000.
If Padilla did not prolong the count, Hussein said, "I would've won
because it would've been a knockout."

Hussein gathered his thoughts on a shocking turn of events for a world-

exclusive interview.

“Honestly, after watching the referee video, it really hit a nerve. I was
upset for a full twenty-four hours,” Hussein told.

It’s not the fact that he said what he said. It’s more because we already
knew it. But the way he said it with a smirk and a smile like he was proud of
what he had done, like the depth of corruption, it’s obviously in his veins and
his heart.

“So, he had obviously done it before because it was nothing to him.”

All in all, everything turned out alright for the two fighters. As Nedal
Hussein moved on and pursued on constructing a car dealership and a gym
while Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao chose to let it go and continue his career
before retiring in 2021 at the age of 43. A win for everyone.
