BIDM 2022 Project Guidelines

Participants of the BIDM Course are required to do a group project. The group project will have 20%
contribution in to the overall evaluation in the BIDM course. Participants can organize themselves in
teams of maximum size five.
Deliverables:
Each group is required to develop an understanding of the application of data mining/ machine learning
in any one of the following areas and explain a real-life case application with relevant details.

1. Healthcare Practice
2. Healthcare Research
3. Supply Chain Management, Transportation and/or Logistics
4. Information security and IT risk management
5. Insurance (life insurance or general insurance)
6. Geography and Weather
7. Sustainability
8. Public Systems (E-Governance etc..)
9. Automobiles (manufacturing or sales or support)
10. FMCG and Retail
11. Geography and Weather information management
12. Network routing and internet optimization
13. Space exploration and research
14. Any other area

Each group is required to submit an ESSAY (minimum 3500 words, maximum 5000 words) in an MS-
word text file on/before 30 Oct 2022, Sunday, 23:59:59 Hours. Following is the expected outline of the
ESSAY.

1 A suitable title for the essay


1 The case context
2 Data Description (if available)
3 The Problem(s) / Objective(s) addressed in the case application – the interventions, details
of the users of the application.
4 Timeline of the application and the methodology adopted (Determine the data mining task
- classification, prediction, clustering, etc.)., Tools used,
5 Outcomes of the case application and its effectiveness
8 Your Learnings from this study
9 References (if any)
