 Tourism: the temporary movement of people to destinations outside their normal places of

work and residence, the activities undertaken during their stay in those destinations, and
the facilities created to cater to their needs.
 International tourism/ outbound tourism is the tourism that takes place when visitors travel
away from their own country to visit another country
 Tourism become the fastest growing sectors of the ecomony because it’s like the elephant:
diverse and too big to be ignored.
 Outbound – Inbound: Inbound tourism is when people from another country visit your
country. Outbound tourism is when people in your country visit another country.
 Five stages of a visitor’s travel: Pre Departure – Arrival – The visit – Departure – Post Tour

 Food tourism: with its focus on delicious and distinctive food and drink, has obvious appeal
to tourists. Tourists are high-spending and well-educated consumers
 Rural tourism: tourists want to seek out rural and wild place and they will become involved
in preserving or enhancing the environment they are visiting
 Medical Tourism: Tourists from many western countries are now travelling aboard for
medical treatments and cures
 Role of tourguide: lead groups of people on visits to sites of interest. He is a expert, a
storyteller, a leader and a problem solver. A guide knows all about the local culture and
neighborhoods, history, geography, shopping, restaurants,…
 Role of agents: They serve as salespeople and consultants to their clients, providing them
with information, guiding them through a decision-making process and selling them the
travel product that they decide upon
 Key skills of a tour guide: Communication – Lendership management – Reserch, planning,
design, implementation, evaluation – accident and emergency management – improvisation
and flexibility
 Leading people on the tour: Meet and greet – Knowing the audience – Co-operation –
Respect – Friendliness – Honesty – Courtesy
 Make tourism service better: We should correct the mistake and satisfy the customer.
These are a great start to creating a truly service-oriented organization. And we must find
out why the mistake happend and making operational or training changes so that is does
not happen again.
 One pillar pagoda in Viietnam was built according to a dream of King Ly Thai Tong. One
night the King had a dream in which he saw a Buddha sitting on the lotus flower while he
was sitting beside the Goddess. Immediately after he had the dream, the King talked to his
ministers about it. One of them advised the King that the pagoda should be like the King’s
dream, with a pond, a tower in the form of a lotus on the pillar
 Buffalo – stabbing festival is held in central highlands of Vietnam to show’s people gratitude
to the Earth and Heavens. Before the festival, they plant a bamboo in the ground then a
buffalo is tied to it. At ceremony, villagers gather, beat drums, sing and dance. A young boy
wil kill the animal. After killing, the wizard with a big pot will take the animal’s blood from
the wound, then he worshiped with wine and sacifices to the Heavens
 Korean new year: is the most important event of the year. Families clean their homes in the last
day of year. They burn the bamboo sticks because they believe the booming sounds of burnt
bamboo sticks can scare away evil spirits. There is a ceremonial meal prepared on New Year
Eve. This meal have 20 dishes. Including tteok-tụ, kimchi and traditional cakes. All members
wear hanbok for the incence dedications. Younger people bow their heads in respect to the
elderly. Koreans also present lucky money – maybe cash, gold, jade or gifts. During the New
Year holidays, people visit their loved ones and neighbours and go to pagodas, children delight
in folk games
 Jeju Volcanic: includes 3 components: Lava Tube Systerm, the fortress – like Seongsan Tuff Cone
and the Mt. Hallasan. These 3 sites have the most distinctive volcanic with ecosysterms and
outstanding natural beauty. The Lava beauty System is the most spectacular and famous
worldwide. The fortress-like Seongsan Tuff Cone is an ancient castle, this tuff cone is 182 meters
high with a bowl-like crater. Mt. Hallasan is famous for its multi-shaped rock formations and
ecosystem.
 Space Tourism: millionaires can have their holiday into space. In the near future, we can book 3
night stay in a space hotel, it’s around 4 milion dollar with 6 people at a time. Meanwhile,
planners are creatting a new space hotel that can hold up to 15 people. Soon, we will have the
vacation out of this world
 Mount FuJi: The Fuji mountain has inspired artists and poets for centuries and has influence on
the development of Western art. It was a sacred symbol of the nation and was designed by
UNESCO as the World Cultural Heritage in 2013. The Fuji , coated in snow, is the result from the
volcanic eruptions thousands of years ago. A crater of 500m in width, which has a lake of deep
blue that changes color in the early morning and late afternoon. Lower down of the mountain,
there are shirnes, lodging house and natural phenonema. Espevially, there is a lake with pure
blue water, is believed to be sacred. Everyone sip this water are thought to have great longevity
and food forture
 Cherry blosoms: known as sakura in Japan. It is the country’s national flower not just for its
beauty but for its enduring expression of life, death and renewal. It has 2 color: young trees
have pink flowers and older trees have white ones. Sakura are beautiful and fragile like love. A
ceremory to view sakura blossom is knows as “hanami”. In Japan, they have “Sakura Forecasts”
and newspaper print maps showing where and when the bloom will take place.
 The great wall: The Great Wall of China is one of the most scenic sights in the world with its
winding route over steep mountains, deserts and plateaus. The 20,000 kilometers route of the
Great Wall and the elements constructed in different historical periods. The Great Wall was
built with the intention of protecting China from the outside aggression from the 3rd to 7th
century BC. The Great Wall of the Ming is, not only because of the ambitious character of the
people but also the perfection of its construction, an absolute masterpiece. The only work built
by human on this planet that can be seen from the moon
 Chiangmai has been developed as a counter-attraction to Bangkok in the northern part of the
country, with the advantage of the cooler, less humid climate. Although the city is a major
center of Thai culture, most backpackers and Western tourists regard it as a convenient base for
trekking tours among the hill tribes of the mountainous country border Myanmar and Laos,
which form part of the nototious “Golden Triangle” of opium production. It is also alleged that
tourism does not benefit these communities but merely exploits them as a curiosity
