Cutting the Fabric

pieces together according to the outline included in the document. Cut out each piece of the
pattern following the solid black lines.
2) Cut out each piece of the pattern following the solid black lines. Tape them together according
to the outline included in the document.
3) Cut out the fabric pieces following each pattern piece. “Cut on the fold” by folding the fabric in
half and placing the dotted line along the folded edge. Then, cut along the solid black lines so
that the final piece unfolds to be twice the size and symmetrical.

Sewing the Garment

1) Finish all of the straight vertical edges with an overedge stitch.
2) Sew the front side panels to each side of the middle panel along the finished vertical edges with
a straight stitch. Stop 3 inches from the bottom to leave an opening for the mini slits.
3) On each of the two back pieces, fold the fabric along the dotted lines to create darts. Make
sure the folds are visible on the back side of the fabric. Sew the darts down with a straight stitch.
4) Attach the zipper between the straight vertical sides of the two back pieces and finish sewing
them together with a straight stitch.
5) Sew the front and back of the skirt together using a straight stitch followed by an overedge
stitch to finish the edges together.
6) Sew the back waist band pieces on each side of the front waist band to create a long strip.
7) Place the waist band around the top of the skirt with the good sides facing each other. To
attach the waist band, sew around the top with a straight stitch followed by an overedge stitch.
8) To finish the mini slits at the bottom, flip the skirt inside out and fold edges back. Sew a
rectangle around the slit to secure it.
9) Fold all around the bottom hem up by .5 inches twice and sew it with a straight stitch.
