Procedure with time allotments:

A) Hook/Engage/Pre-Assess Students

- I will ask the students how they feel about taking a test tomorrow and they will give a
thumbs up or thumbs down depending on how they feel. (1min)

B) Communicate the purpose of the lesson to students (objective/assessment)

- I will talk to the students about how the content in the games and slideshow they are
about to partake in will be important for their upcoming test. (1min)

C) Instructional Sequence:

- Students will interact with the slide show on a presenter’s paced option. They will
answer the questions according to the instructions at the bottom of the screen. The
teacher after a given amount of time will show the classes answers to the class. If
needed the teacher will provide explanations or corrections to the class’s
misconceptions. The class will complete all the slides before moving on to the next
activity. (10 min)
- The students will also play ‘Un-Wheel of Fortune” using the link to this Google Doc
(https://docs.google.com/document/d/1REwbHT8NvsqvUmhiwOYd7sk_iRL-
XDOd2WA9f4PXOvQ/edit) displayed at the front of the class to help students with
spelling and scaffolding answers. (15min)
o Students will be grouped into teams of three or four and be given 1 marker
and 1 board.
o The teacher will read off the questions from the fill in the blank section of the
test and the true or false section of the test.
o The team that has their marker board up in the air first will be able to have a
chance at guessing a letter from the blanks given in the Google Doc. The
blanks on the board will stand for “Good luck on your test tomorrow”
o Tally points for each team as follows: If the student answers correctly, give
one point and allow him/her to choose a letter. Award additional points for
each time the letter appears. (For example, if Gavin guesses E and there are
3 E‘s, he gets 4 points: 1 for the correct answer and 3 for the 3 E‘s.) The
student can then try to guess the puzzle. Award 5 points to the team that
solves the puzzle.
o Students will be asked to collaborate with their team and come to a general
consensus before their teammate raises their marker board. The students will
also be asked to collaborate in hushed voices.

D) Closure:

- Students again will be asked how they feel about their upcoming test and will be
allowed to ask questions as needed to help them prepare. (3min)

objective(s).

If you could teach this lesson to the same group of students again, what are two or three things you would do
differently to improve the learning of these students based on their varied developmental and academic needs and
characteristics? Consider missed opportunities and other aspects of planning, instruction, and/or assessment.
