Automated child activity and interaction analysis
AHEAD – DOR 06 Project
Terms of Reference
• Performing the tasks assigned by the Project Coordinator in relation to the following.
a) Critically evaluate existing research on the following areas:
i. Automated analysis of child actions
ii. Automated analysis of child interactions with adults and peers.
iii. Use of the analysis in i} and ii} in medical domain specially related to Autism Spectrum Disorder
(ASD)
iv. Suitable technology analysis to implement the above to a low-income country like Sri Lanka.
b) Design novel methodologies to automate analysis on the areas mentioned in a) related to children with ASD.
c) Design appropriate data collection scripts and processes in line with the medical standards for implementing
the methodologies.
d) Manage data collection from the appropriate hospitals, well-baby clinics and child care centers.
e) Develop models to analyze a given video and 3D streams on individual and interaction activities.
f) Apply those models for children with ASD to automate screening on action and interaction based tasks.
c) Implement the models using a technology stack that can be deployed on a suitable mobile platform
d) Critically evaluate results obtained in the research highlighting the contribution to the existing knowledge in
the areas mentioned in the a).
e) Assist in the publication of research as outlined in Table 1a of the PAT document of this AHEAD project
• Manage multi modal devices in data collection and processing.
• Undertake trainings provided related to project work.

• To be proactive in executing the workload
• Immediately bring to the attention of Project Coordinator any issues, concerns and follow up
• Function effectively in a team environment inspiring trust and cooperation of other team members, but also be
responsible and accountable for duties assigned
• To adhere to all instructions, guidance given with regard to execution of your prescribed duties & responsibilities,
and any other additional work that may be assigned to you from time to time.
• To professionally interact with senior academic and administrative staff in the university
• Possess strong communication, negotiating skills and good interpersonal relations
• Ability to speak, read and write fluent English, and assist in the production of project reports in English.
• Computer Literacy

assigned from time to time, verbally or in writing.
