A. Preliminary Activity
i. Recall

What are the two elements of freedom?

Very good!

The two elements of freedom are

VOLUNTARINESS and RESPONSIBILITY

What have you learned from the previous

discussion? The students will answer the question
Nice!

According to your classmate, she learned that

being responsibly is a choice which could be a
positive outcome of freedom.

Now, I can say that you already learned our past

lesson, and let’s now proceed to our next lesson.
But, before that let have an activity.

Are you ready?

ii. Motivational Activity

Instruction: I will show you pictures and you

will identify whether it is a good or bad and
give your reaction about the pictures.

B. Lesson Proper

Based on the activity, what do you think is our

topic today?

Very good!

Our lesson for today is all about How can I

exercise my freedom in a responsible and
beneficial manner?

So let’s start!

But, before we finally begin lets get ½ crosswise

and answer the following questions. The students will write their answers in the
column.
1.ACTIVITY
Instructions: Kindly answer the questions below.
1. Can we control the freedom that we have?
2. How can we moderate our thoughts,
emotions, and actions?

2.ANALYSIS

Okay, let’s elicit the answer from one of your

classmates.
Good Job!

3. ABSTRACTION
Now, let’s officially start our discussion kindly
open your book on page number 86.

In our previous discussion we learned that

freedom has something to do and be possible
because of voluntariness and responsibility.
today, we will unlock the discussion and learn
about how can we exercise the freedom we have
in a responsible and beneficial manner.

You may heard the saying “My freedom to swing

my fist ends where your name begins”.

This simple statement points to the fact that

human freedom, though essential is not
absolute.

We should sets limits to our own freedom and

learn to moderate or control our thoughts,
emotions, and actions depending on the
situation.

Do we have choice to limit our own freedom?

The students will state their answer.

Awesome!

Yes, indeed since we are human person, we are

capable of decision making that includes our
freedom to choose.

For example,

A person may choose not to enter the jeepney first

despite being first in the line to give a way to an
elderly woman.

A young professional may choose not to speak up

in a meeting regarding serious concerns about a
worker, but instead directly confront the person
concerned in private.

Limiting our personal freedom requires us to

sacrifice certain self interests and accept certain
realities that are beyond our control.

Our society also imposes restriction or our

individual freedom. From determining the places
where we can cross a street to controlling our
actions through the laws and regulations, society
implements reasonable restrictions to personal
freedom in order to maintain order and harmony
and uphold the welfare of the public.

Now, let us go back to the question you have

answered before we start, again,

3. Can we control the freedom that we have?

4. How can we moderate our thoughts,
emotions, and actions?

Let us elicit the answer from one of your

classmates.

Very good!

To continue,

Freedom should also be exercised with regard for

knowledge and truth.

As a human person, is it natural to think before

we act?

Very good!

According to Aristotle, we need to reason out

before we come up with the will and for it to have
a positive outcome.

We have to use the freedom and acquire more

knowledge, and we have to use this knowledge in
order to come up with decisions and courses of
actions when confronted with difficult situations.

The ability to acquire information and truthful

knowledge regarding a particular situation is
very important since it aids us in making wise
and informed choices.

For example,

in voting for officials in your school in student

council elections, some student may choose to
vote for candidates that they find attractive or
appealing. More discern students, however, will
choose to find out each candidate’s views on
important school issues and cast their vote
based on their judgement of who is the better
candidate to address these concerns.

4.APPLICATION:
The teacher will ask the students to do the
following;

1. What did you understand about the

lesson?
2. How important the decision making in the
good conduct of action?

Your answers are brilliant!

5. GENERALIZATION
At this point again, our discussion was all about
Freedom should be exercised with regard for
knowledge and truth and we should exercise our
freedom in responsible and beneficial manner.

Are we free of making choices?

Are responsible for the actions we take?

Very Good Class!

V. ASSESSMENT
Answer the following questions;
1. What enables a person to exercise limits in his or her freedom?
2. How does truthful knowledge contribute to human freedom?
3. How can you show respect for the freedom of others?

VI. ASSIGNMENT: Please do an advance reading in lesson 6: Intersubjectivity.
