Fabric
I recommend choosing a light fabric, such as cotton or
linen, viscose, or muslin. It’s also possible to use a
semitransparent delicate fabric and add a lining, either
black or white depending of the fabric you chose. Don’t
hesitate to try new things and use different textures or
materials for your project.

Lexicon
Right side: The printed or pretty surface of the fabric.
Normally you sew things with right sides together. This
way the stitching will be on the inside of the finished
project.
Wrong side: The other surface which not pretty.

Instructions
To get started on your new project, you will need to wash
your fabric carefully! This is an important step since
organic fabrics can shrink after being washed.
Start by laying down the pattern on your fabric and begin
cutting the pieces. You can either use pins or weights to
keep the fabric stable on your cutting table. Personally, I
use cups or even my wallet to keep the fabric from
moving. Moreover, you will have to transfer the
information from the pattern on your pieces of fabric
(gather, darts, etc.). This information will be important
to remember in the upcoming steps. To mark your fabric,
I recommend using colour pencils or soap.

second sleeve.

Gathering the
Skirt
Gather upper edge of
skirt between small
circle. Pull loose ends
together until it
reaches the same
length as the top and
sleeve seam. Repeat
for the second skirt.
Attaching
Skirt to Top
With right sides
together, pin the skirt
to the top, matching
the gathering to the
sleeve/top seams. Pull
up gathering stitches
to fit. Stitch. Repeat
for the back.

Stitching Sleeve Hems & Elastic
Press sleeve hem allowance. Pin the hem. Stitch close to
press edge, leaving an opening for the elastic. Using a
diaper pin, insert the elastic (19 cm) in the opening of
the hem. Pin both elastic ends together and stitch. Close
the opening with a stitch.
