    JACK AND THE

    BEANSTALK
    So, you have chosen to rewrite ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ from the GIANT’S
    point of view. You can change it however you want but you must include at
    least three parts of the story:

    1. I smelled a boy in my castle and shouted “Fee Fie Fo Fum, I smell the
    blood of an Englishman!”
    2. My wife told me no one is there.
    3. I fell asleep listening to my magic harp.
    4. I woke up and saw a boy escaping with my chicken and the harp.
    5. I followed the boy down the beanstalk and ....?

    Think about:
    What do you (the Giant) think about yourself? How was your life before
    Jack came along? How did you feel about the things Jack did? Who was
    your wife? What REALLY happened on the beanstalk?

    USEFUL WORDS

    cottage: a small house in the countryside

    beanstalk: a tall plant that beans grow on

    harp: a musical instrument with strings

    axe: a tool used for chopping wood
