WILL YOU CONSUME, AVAIL, AND PROMOTE GMOs? WHY OR WHY NOT?

As a student, for me it is a YES and NO because. If we are talking about GMOs that benefit the foods,
plants, animals, farms, and etc. I think I’ll consume, avail, and promote GMOs because. It can make our
life easier and better also; it will help and improve the society. But if we are talking about Genetic
Modified Humans, I’m against this idea. If Genetic Modified Humans will be confirmed not harmful to
people and if it is successful to Humans. Then why not? But if the experiment lacks evidence and
harmful, no thanks. GMOs today are very helpful when it comes to our daily lives, it helps our lives to be
easier. I am not totally against GMOs and I truly admire GMOs because it really can help the society and
the environment. Why support and promote GMOs? First of all, what is GMO? GMOs stands for
genetically modified organism, GMO is a plant, animal, microorganism, or other creature whose genetic
composition has been altered in a laboratory using genetic engineering or transgenic technology. This
results in plant, animal, bacterial, and viral gene combinations that do not exist in nature or through
standard crossbreeding procedures. Many of the things we use on a daily basis are affected by genetic
engineering. What is Genetic Engineering? The use of biotechnology to alter an organism's genetic
makeup. Editing the genome by cutting the DNA into fragments and inserting from one organism to other
results in a new type of DNA termed RECOMBINANT DNA, and species with these genetic traits are
known as genetically modified (GM) or transgenic organisms. So why should we support and promote
GMOs? First, GMOs helps farms to maintain and balance organisms (insects). Scientist insert a gene
from Bacillus thuringiensis – a bacterium that produces the crystal toxin protein – into the DNA of the
corn, thereby making the corn poisonous to insect. Second is plants can be resistant to pesticides. Third is
GMOs have the potential to increase agricultural yields and provide more nutritious food. Fourth GMO
crops may be produced in hostile locations such as Flood-resistant GM rice, which might save farmers'
livelihoods. Fifth, GMOs can also be a cheap source of medicine. I there are still many positive and
beneficial things that GMOs can give to the society. I think these are the only few benefits that we can get
from GMOs but we must always remember that there is a negative outcome or result. One example is that
GMOs can kill insects that are beneficial to our ecosystem that are unwanted targets of GMOs and many
more negative effects. But overall, in my opinion GMOs will be very important in the future because it
can still improve, upgrade, and make it better to help us to issues and problems with regards to our society
and ecosystem. Not only that it helps us to our problems but it can make our life easier and better. That’s
why I’ll promote, consume, avail and support GMOs.
