AN INTRODUCTION TO

DECONSTRUCTION
LINGUISTIC ANALOGY OR REVIVALISM

- It has its roots from different

influences, one of which is literature

- Some influences may carry over to

architecture, some of the theories
they do have

DECONSTRUCTION
- Started off from literature as an idea
● The idea is that, when think
of a piece of literature
sometimes we don’t just
necessarily structured it
chronologically, but when we
structure literature
sometimes we need to let
readers read between the
lines or tell the story by
foreshadowing
● Literature somehow dwelves
into the subconscious more
● It kind of is apparent in
architecture that when we
talk about communication
this is very important in the
postmodern period

POSTMODERNISM
- When we talk about postmodernism,
we also talk about communication
and expressing with visual cues and
symbolism meaning towards
postmodern architecture
- The -isms have embraced more
plurality meaning that it isn’t just one
single movement that was dominant
that time but one of which that is the
turning point
