II. Title of the Activity: Realize that intersubjectivity requires accepting differences and not imposing others. (PPT11/12-
IIc-6.1)
Explain the authentic dialogue means accepting others even if they are different from themselves. (PPT/12-IId-6.2)

CONCEPT:
Intersubjectivity refers to the meaningful engagement of subjects and tohow we make sense of the world and each other
together (DeJaegher 2015).Inherent in the definition is that our understanding of the world and everything around us comes
from communication through shared encounters.
Intersubjectivity generally means something has a shared, standard agreement in the definition of an object. Most people
would experience intersubjectivity when asked to picture an apple- the description of an apple would be the same.
Intersubjectivity is one such experience that creates a basic shared understanding between two individuals, usually the
caregiver and baby. For example, children experience themselves as being valued, valuable, love, loveable, and innovative
whenever their parents experience them as manifesting those characteristics.
Being a neighbor to the other- A subtle form of “violence”, we do to other people to reduce them into social categories. A
category is a pre-conception amounting to a pre-judgment. Examples of these categories we apply to others would be the
category of social classes (elitists, “jologs,” “conyo,”“jejemon”), or the labels we use to classify others (brands on a race like
“tisoy,” “negro”; twisted use of medical conditions – retard, OC, addict; brands on the derogative look on gender or sexuality
such as “bakla,” “malandi”; brands on the place of origin such as “promdi,” “barbaric,” “tagabundok”). For Reinhold Neibor,
A category serves as a barrier that prevents us from having a real personal encounter with another person.

Martin Heidegger says that humankind is a conversation. The conversation is more than an idle talk but a dialogue. This means
that humanity is progressively attuned to communication about being. Language, as one of human possession, creates the
human world. A language is a tool for communication, information, and social interaction. However, the language can also be
fantastic.
An authentic dialog entails a person-to-person, a mutual sharing of selves, acceptance, and sincerity. This relationship is the “I-
thou relation.” I-You of Wojtyla refers to the interpersonal which fulfills and actualizes oneself. The human person attains
fulfillment in the interpersonal realm, meeting the other; thus, there is a genuine dialog.

The Philippine government supports persons with disabilities (PWDs) to land a job. It is a negative perception that they are less
productive. In reality, PWDs face several barriers in finding a job, whether through inaccessibility of transportation in the workplace,
discrimination, and a negative perception of their capacity.
The country has enough laws to protect the PWDs, such as Executive Order No. 417; however, in reality, these are hardly
implemented. EO 417 mandates all national government agencies and state-run corporations to allot at least one percent of their
annual budget for programs that will benefit the sector. Further, EO 417 addresses the government’s need to provide capitalization
for PWDs’ livelihood activities, including support for technical skills through the labor department.
One of the primary reasons why many PWD enterprises fail is because of the lack of market for their products. As part of your
contribution to affirming their skills, this section’s activity will also be a chance for the PWDs products to be displayed and sold on
the campus. Disability is considered a development issue because of its relationship to poverty. Poverty may increase the risk of
disability.
