Chief Digital
Officer Programme
40 Weeks | Online

Starts March 23, 2023

Indian industries shifting
towards Digital Transformation

Digital transformation has made its way into the Indian market. Currently,
India has 75 crore smartphone users, more than 80 crore internet users and
has one of the largest customer bases of 4G, gradually shifting to 5G in the
near future.

By 2025, the AI market in India is expected to reach USD 7.8 billion

Between 2020-2026, the Indian industrial IoT market size is projected to

grow at a rate of 15.5%

By 2025, the Indian government aims to create an economic value of

USD 1 trillion through digital economy

The above statistics clearly prove India's foray into large-scale digital
transformation and is expected to rapidly advance in the next decade.

Role of a Chief Digital Officer
Not all industries have the same understanding of digital technology and
digital transformation. In fact, 90% of the industries falling behind in this era
of an extremely competitive market are doing so because of their reluctance
towards digital transformation.
In this day and age of rapid digitalisation, the role of a Chief Digital Officer
(CDO) then becomes extremely crucial. A Chief Digital Officer knows the
importance of digital technologies and ways to use it to create new, or
modify the existing business processes, culture and customer experiences
to meet the changing market requirements. They can strategise and make
the organisation understand the implications of technology and invest in it,
thereby leading to the growth of the organisation. With several years of
experience and an added knowledge of digital technology, they have the
potential to revolutionise the organisation, making it stand out in the market.

The CDO is now a “transformer in chief,” charged with coordinating and

managing comprehensive changes that address everything from updating
how a company works to building out entirely new businesses.
- McKinsey

Less than half of large companies have a Chief Data Officer (CDO).
- Gartner
Overview

As more organisations are leaning towards digital transformation, the

demand for Chief Digital Officer has increased in the job market.
Currently, there are 240+ vacancies for Chief Digital Officer (CDO) roles in
the market, with an average salary ranging from 32 lacs to more than
1 crore.

According to a BCG report, almost 70% of digital transformations fall short

of their objectives and end up failing.
Digital change is critical for any organisation today, but they often overlook
one important factor – People. How to make people overcome organisational
inertia often deep rooted over decades?
Currently, there are HoDs, CXOs who are leading digital transformation
functions within organisations, who know the ins and outs of the industry
and know the benefit of adapting to new technology. However, driving
organisational innovation and change continues to be a challenge.

The Chief Digital Officer Programme by ISB Executive Education is the
