The social evil that I choose to eradicate is

the garbage littered here and there. This not only darken the
image of Indians in front of the whole world but also is a
major cause of increased number of disease in India. Littering
garbage is one of the major back-push to Indian Tourism,
especially on international level. The untreaded garbage on
roads and other areas is at one side unpleasant to eyes and
have a foul smell but on the other hand, it becomes a perfect
breeding place for Vectors such as flies and mosquitoes.
Heaps of garbage, Chocked drains, garbage being scattered
by animals can be seen here and there very easily.
The solution that I intent to provide is to develop a special
app where anyone could post a picture of garbage along with
its location and it directly reaches to concerned sweeper and
his supervisor. Furthermore, it should be developed in such a
manner that if from any area, more than an allocated
number of pics are uploaded; say 5 or 10;or the solution was
not solved within the fixed limited time, then those pics
would be automatically forwarded to higher authorities and
they are bound to take action against the concerned person.
The app must also contain the much needed information
about the disposal of garbage. Basic information such as dry
and wet garbage to be placed in different bins. This will help
in spreading awareness among people, which is the need of
the hour. App must have the feature to point out whether
proper waste bins, well-maintained public toilets are
available in the there areas.
The app should also contain the feature of showing the
location of nearest public-toilet for strangers in town; above
all those toilets should be properly maintained and well-
sanitized. App must have the feature to post complains if
these are’nt properly-maintained.
We could also make things interesting by adding these
feature:-after 5 or maybe 10pics; if more pictures are
uploaded from a particular area, the concerned sweeper will
lose a few percentage of that month’s salary say 0.2% or
0.5%per picture.
Along with it there must be a bonus system for those
sweepers from whose area are less number of pictures (to
say less than a fixed number, say 5) are uploaded. Or we can
add a credit point system as we get in online shopping apps.
We can also expand these system to their supervisors and
even to those ‘higher-authorities’.
We should add the feature where an aware citizen could post
the video clips of anti-social elements such as those who
‘steal dustbins’ or ‘openly-defecate’. Concerned authorities
should then take action against those antisocial elements
such as imposing 1000 rupees fine in case of open-
defecation. Along with it, the identity of sender should be
kept secret if he/she wants; otherwise he/she should be
publicly awarded and respected.
Luckily with this application we could improve our position in
Environmental Performance Index where we presently stand
at 168th out-of-180.
