ENGLISH LITERATURE
SECOND TERM
2022-2023

GRADE: IX

Topic: The students are required to submit the assignment of reasonable length
(not exceeding 300 to 400 words in total).

Assignment should be based on the prescribed textbook ‘The Merchant of

Venice’ on the following lines:
 Character/thematic analysis;
 Socio-economic, cultural, historical relevance / background;
 Summary / paraphrase;
 Appreciation of literary qualities;
 Identifying with a character. Putting oneself in the place of a character in the
given circumstances and explaining one’s actions;
 Imagine alternative outcomes or endings in a literary piece and the effect on all
concerned.

General Instructions:

 The student will be given the question 2 weeks prior to the assignment.
 The student will present his/her opinions in a written assignment of not
more than 300 to 400 words.
 The assignment will be written during the virtual learning session.

 The student will conduct research on the drama and gather relevant
information.
 You are expected to use A-4 size white sheets (one side ruled and one
side blank), neatly filed in a file.

 A white front sheet has to be pasted on the outer cover of the file, leaving
2cm border all around. The white sheet should contain the following details

 Roll no:
 Class & Div :
 Subject:
 Title of Project:

 Decoration should be relevant to the topic. (Please do not stick any craft
objects)

 First page: Index with page numbers.

 The last page will contain the Bibliography.

 Use of labeled pictures/photographs is essential.

 You may write on the right-hand side page and paste / draw pictures /
photographs on the left-hand side.

 Write in black ink only. Only Titles/ Sub-titles may be written with
color/glitter pens

The project has to be submitted in the first week of February, 2023.

Please note: Any project submitted after the due date will not be evaluated.
