What is the issue?
History
1882

- Eritrea was an Italian colony

Italy lost during WW2 (axis powers)


Since Ethiopia supported the Allies in WW2:
- The British, decided that Eritrea would
operate under Ethiopian federal authority but
with some autonomy
Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie
- put restrictions on Eritrea to isolate and remove their
government

- the U.N. attempted a reconciliation between them but…


- Ethiopia tried to annex Eritrea which initiated a 30 year
war.

Eritrean War of Independence


-Lasted 30 years (1961- 1991)
- Eritrea fighting for independence
against Ethiopia
- Ended when Ethiopian Rebels fought
to overthrow their government
1998 Badme Border War
- Eritrea wanted to annex this
Ethiopian border village

- Lasted 2 years (1998-2000)

2018 Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed


- Ended the conflict w/ Eritrea
- Gave the town of Badme to Eritrea
- Joint Declaration of Peace and Friendship

Capture and Conquer is a 1 vs 1 board game inspired by Chess but with
added features. This game is a battle between Ethiopia and Eritrea
which consists of a variety of game pieces and functions. The goal is to
conquer the enemy and capture their flag. Each player will strategize
and plan out their moves to win.

Ethiopia and Eritrea have been at war ever since, fighting over land and
territory. Over the decades, the war invasions have caused thousands
of casualties making them the poorest countries of the world.
