The review
The horse whisperer is one of the most brilliant films I have seen! It not only gives joyful
hours with drama, romance and action but it will also give you essential lessons for life.
Despite it being quite old, it is still one of the best films I have watched recently.

At first the film starts in New York, where Grace has a tragic accident with her horse Pilgrim,
after that accident neither PIlgrim nor Grace are the same, and none of them are apparently
able to ride. However, Grace’s mother has decided to have her daughter back so she looks
for experts who can help her and ends up in Montana. The setting is simply breathtaking, the
film takes place mainly on a farm in Montana. It has horses, cows, rivers, lakes, it is like a
dream come true.

In my opinion the most essential component of the film is the director and main actor, Robert
Redford. The film wouldn’t be the same without him. His acting is outstanding, i can assure
you by the end of the film you will end up in love with him. Apart from his great skills his
character is also encharming. He is the horse whisperer and has the difficult task of rescuing
both the horse and Grace, as well as of dealing with the overstressed mother.

Although I have loved it, I must admit it is quite slow, this is the perfect timing for getting to
know all the characters and for being able to appreciate the deepest parts of the dilemma
that the film presents. However, if you are an impatient person or you are more into action
movies then this is not for you.

This film talks about very recurrent topics in our life such as destiny, vocation, patience,
hard-work or depression. It is full of dialogue and useful advice which will help you and won’t
leave you indifferent. For me the most moving part was when “The horse whisperer” tells
Grace to whatever happens don’t let this win over you, don’t lose herself. This is something
that often happens in our daily lives, and the film makes sure you understand that isn’t an
easy job but it is crucial, like the saying says: “Sometimes the easiest isn’t the best”.

The Verdict
If you are into romance movies and are patient enough to appreciate a good slow movie
then don’t hesitate. The almost three hours of film are totally worth it. If you watch it I beg
you to be open to the lessons it will teach you about life.
